Interview By: Janel Spiegel <\/strong><\/a><\/span><\/p>\n <\/p>\n Hello Kendal, thank you so much for taking the time to do this interview for The Valley Ledger. Please tell us about yourself and how you got into music?<\/em><\/p>\n K.C.-<\/strong> I\u2019m a singer-songwriter from Pottstown, PA.\u00a0 I got into music by carrying my boombox out to the barn we had in the backyard and performing for the chicken coop.\u00a0 I just always really liked to sing and perform for a crowd — in the beginning my audience didn\u2019t even have to be human ha!<\/p>\n <\/p>\n I was able to attend an event at Gallows Hill Spirits Co. and you performed. You did such a great job. What do you love most about concerts\/performances?<\/em><\/p>\n K.C.-<\/strong> Thank you!\u00a0 I\u2019m naturally introverted, so I love getting to \u201ctalk\u201d to people through my music.\u00a0 I get to connect with strangers in a highly personal way when I perform.\u00a0 It\u2019s fun, but also very cathartic for me.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n What are you currently working on?<\/em><\/p>\n K.C-<\/strong> New music!\u00a0 I\u2019ve been writing again and deciding which direction I want to go production-wise.\u00a0 I\u2019ve also been doing a lot of traveling now that a lot of the restrictions have been lifted.\u00a0 I love that excitement and magic of visiting a brand-new city.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n I\u2019ve been listening to your music and I think each song hits a different nerve, in a good way. \u201cStranger Things\u201d is definitely one of my favorites. What is the process for you to make music?<\/em><\/p>\n K.C.-<\/strong> The production for that one was inspired by the Netflix show \u201cStranger Things.\u201d\u00a0 I\u2019ve had that hook for a while \u201cStranger Things\u201d have happened than you and me\u201d and when the show exploded, I just thought it was perfect timing to record it.\u00a0 When you\u2019re in the studio, I think of it like a laboratory.\u00a0 Some things you try to do sound-wise just don\u2019t work.\u00a0 Other times you fall into the right lick, the right inflection.\u00a0 It\u2019s all so organic, and I\u2019m very much a planner.\u00a0 It\u2019s fun for me to force myself to be open and spontaneous with production.<\/p>\n Has anyone inspired you professionally?<\/em><\/p>\n K.C.-<\/strong> My parents.\u00a0 They really set the standard for me growing up.\u00a0 They taught me about work ethic, teamwork, business smarts, the value of a dollar.\u00a0 They gave me a lot of support as a kid chasing this crazy dream, and they still do.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n COVID-19 has impacted so many people and music has always meant so much to me and so many others. What would you like to say to the fans listening to your music?<\/em><\/p>\n K.C.-<\/strong> You\u2019re why I do this!\u00a0 I make music to be heard, to connect with people who feel the same way as me.\u00a0 It feels so good to listen to your favorite songs and feel seen and understood and not alone.\u00a0 So, if I can do that for someone else, that\u2019s everything.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n I think social media has been helpful for artists, do you feel it has been helpful?<\/em><\/p>\n K.C.-<\/strong> Yes!\u00a0 During the quarantine, everyone felt so isolated.\u00a0 But then I looked at my social media pages and thought\u2026 I can still reach people even if I can\u2019t see them.\u00a0 So, I started doing virtual shows and posting more singing clips on my Instagram.\u00a0 It was my lifeline.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n You are also a songwriter.
