{"id":108160,"date":"2021-09-10T22:40:38","date_gmt":"2021-09-11T02:40:38","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.thevalleyledger.com\/?p=108160"},"modified":"2021-09-10T22:40:38","modified_gmt":"2021-09-11T02:40:38","slug":"artsquest-announces-plans-for-oktoberfest","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.thevalleyledger.com\/?p=108160","title":{"rendered":"ARTSQUEST ANNOUNCES PLANS FOR OKTOBERFEST"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Photo Credit: Craig Roberts<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0Oktoberfest, presented by Lehigh Valley International Airport (ABE), will take place over the course of two weekends, Fri., Oct. 1 through Sun., Oct. 3 and Fri., Oct. 8 through Sun., Oct. 10.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>BETHLEHEM, Pa. \u2013 Oktoberfest, presented by\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.flyabe.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Lehigh Valley International Airport (ABE)<\/a>, will return to the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.steelstacks.org\/festivals\/oktoberfest\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">SteelStacks<\/a>\u00a0campus Oct. 1 \u2013 3 and Oct. 8 \u2013 10, 2021. The festival, now in its 11th year, will feature brew samples, live music, local artisans as well as popular activities like the dachshund dog parade and the Pennsylvania State Steinholding Championship.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou know it\u2019s officially fall at SteelStacks when Oktoberfest returns and we are excited to welcome the public back to this popular annual event,\u201d Kassie Hilgert, President &amp; CEO of ArtsQuest said. \u201cNone of this would be possible without the support of our corporate and community partners.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>ACTIVITIES<\/strong><br \/>\nThe popular\u00a0<strong>Hasselhoff-off<\/strong>, where contestants show off their Hoff-like good looks in a hilarious costume and impersonation contest, will return on Fri., Oct. 1. The adorable\u00a0<strong>Oktoberfest wiener dog parade<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0<strong>dachshund dog races<\/strong>\u00a0will return on Saturdays and Sundays throughout the festival. Attendees can come play the blown-up version of a popular party game during the\u00a0<strong>Oktoberfest Kong Pong Tourney<\/strong>, presented by Yuengling. For the first time ever, this year\u2019s Oktoberfest will be the site of the official\u00a0<strong>Pennsylvania State Steinholding Championship<\/strong>, presented by Samuel Adams and produced in partnership with the\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.ussteinholding.com\/info\/steinholding-events\/more\/u-s-steinholding-association-state-championships\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">US Steinholding Association<\/a>. To qualify for the state championship on Oct. 10, competitors must first qualify for the semi-finals on Oct. 3 (or another qualifying competition held throughout the area).<\/p>\n<p><strong>BEER AND FOOD<\/strong><br \/>\nIt wouldn\u2019t be an Oktoberfest without the brews and food. Attendees can sample seasonal craft beers from\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.yuengling.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Yuengling<\/a>,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.hofbraeu-muenchen.de\/en\/beer\/hofbrau-original\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Hofbr\u00e4u<\/a>,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.samueladams.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Samuel Adams<\/a>,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.dogfish.com\/#fishgate-dialog\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Dogfish Head<\/a>\u00a0and more. Second only to the beer is the food. Karl Ehmer, Heidi\u2019s Strudel, Foodstuff and Heaven on a Bun will be returning. New this year will be Waffle De Lys and delicious dishes from\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.steelstacks.org\/about\/venues-at-steelstacks\/palette-pour\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Palette &amp; Pour<\/a>, the new full-service bar and quick-service kitchen located on the first floor of the ArtsQuest Center. Festival goers can also shop from a variety of artisan crafters and retailers der Verk\u00e4ufer (vendors).<\/p>\n<p><strong>ENTERTAINMENT<\/strong><br \/>\nThere will be live music and entertainment in seven different venues throughout the festival, including at the\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.levittsteelstacks.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Levitt Pavilion SteelStacks<\/a>\u00a0on Friday and Saturday nights. Musical acts will include Boat House Row \u2013 A Yacht Rock Experience, The Discoteks and Renaissance Orchestra.<\/p>\n<p>Festival favorites Polkadelphia will be playing daily, along with performances from a variety of Schuhplatters. Fire dance cabaret group Flame Nouveau will heat up the stage on Sat., Oct. 2. Then, join some of the Lehigh Valley\u2019s favorite drag queens as they serve up Oktoberfest-themed performances during\u00a0<strong>Dragtoberfest<\/strong>, presented by Jack Daniels, on Sat., Oct. 2 and 9.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are proud to be onboard once again as presenting sponsor for Oktoberfest in the Lehigh Valley,\u201d said Thomas R.
