Lamont McClure is requesting that Northampton County Council approve $1,020,299 for 51 Hotel Tax Grants at its October meeting. Hotel Tax Grants are funded through the County\u2019s tax on hotels and Airbnbs. For a project to be eligible, it must enhance tourism and\/or promote community development within the county and be completed within the 2022 Calendar Year.<\/p>\n

\u201cWith our extensive parks and trail system, museums, art organizations and farm shows, Northampton County is a prime destination for people who love the outdoors, history and culture,\u201d says Lamont McClure. \u201cOur Hotel Tax grants help to make events like Musikfest, living history exhibitions and concerts possible increasing tourism in our area.\u201d<\/p>\n

Hotel Tax Grants are awarded through a competitive process. Applications are screened by the Hotel Tax Review Committee which forwards its recommendations to the County Executive.<\/p>\n

The grants are distributed at the discretion of County Council. Applicants must either be a federally registered non-profit entity, 501(c)(3) or 501(c)(4), or a municipal entity located within Northampton County.<\/p>\n
