The funding received from these grants helps Valley Youth House towards their mission of being the catalyst for youth to achieve their desired future through genuine relationships that support families, ensure safe places, and build community connections.

Valley Youth House’s Northern Region Rapid Re-Housing (RRH) programs received $25,000 in funding from Sanofi US. These programs provide rental assistance and supportive services for homeless transition-age youth (ages 18-24) and their children by giving them the tools and resources necessary to earn a living wage and live independently. The homeless youth served in the Northern Region are predominantly women, many of whom have infants of small children; all are below the poverty line and without financial resources. Youth in the RRH program receive assistance in locating safe housing while they complete school, find employment, and develop the life skills to be self-supporting.

Valley Youth House’s STEM Camps at Camp Fowler receive $5,000 in funding from Sanofi US. This program provides youth with an opportunity to learn about science, technology, engineering, mathematics and nature topics, as well as offering therapeutic intervention to a high-risk population through an outdoor adventure setting. Youth participating in the summer camps have experiential learning opportunities in a non-traditional school setting. The STEM programming allows youth to have hands-on, up-close experiences as they learn from experts in these fields. The experiential learning leads to an increase in appreciation and knowledge of STEM that is essential in school and beyond. Using the Camp’s adventure elements also gives youth the opportunity to practice positive and effective communication skills, teamwork, and leadership to overcome real-life challenges in an environment that is safe, controlled, and supervised.

About Valley Youth House

Valley Youth House (valleyyouthhouse.org) does more than just provide homes for Pennsylvania’s vulnerable, abused, and homeless youth.
