Turning Point of Lehigh Valley\u2019s capstone event for Domestic Violence Awareness Month is their\u00a0Annual Vigil<\/strong>\u00a0where they remember lives lost, honor survivors and give hope for the future. The vigil will be in person on\u00a0Wednesday, October 20, 2021, at The Civic Theatre of Allentown\u00a0<\/strong>(527 N. 19th\u00a0Street, Allentown, PA 18104).\u00a0\u00a0Doors open at 6:00pm and the vigil will start promptly at 6:30pm until 7:30pm.<\/strong>\u00a0This event is at no cost to the general public and masks required.<\/p>\n Lehigh Valley With Love will be live streaming the participants on stage during the vigil to both Turning Point\u2019s Facebook and Instagram pages as well as Lehigh Valley With Love\u2019s social media pages. In addition, they will be recording the vigil for those who are not able to make it in person tonight.<\/p>\n The theme of their vigil is\u00a0\u201cUnmasking Domestic and Intimate Partner Abuse<\/strong>,\u201d which is also part of their yearlong theme to\u00a0<\/strong>address the myths and stereotypes surrounding domestic and intimate partner abuse. The purpose is to take the time to remember those who have lost their lives through an act of domestic violence, empower those individuals who have survived abuse, and to give hope for the future. This is an important and meaningful evening for the Lehigh Valley community for victims, survivors, families, friends, co-workers, and advocates.<\/p>\n Join them for this year\u2019s vigil for an hour filled program featuring powerful messages from two resilient featured speakers\u00a0Nnemdia Clark and Beth Couvertier, a special musical performance by local singer-song writer, Kendal Conrad, poetry read by Robin Gow from Bradbury-Sullivan LGBT Community Center, a week without violence video message from the YWCA Allentown and YWCA Bethlehem, and a\u00a0candlelight vigil with a moment of silence to remember lives lost to acts of domestic and intimate partner abuse.<\/p>\n Turning Point of Lehigh Valley\u00a0offers\u00a0a 24-hour Helpline, Empowerment Counseling and Groups, Emergency Safe House and Housing Advocacy, Legal Advocacy, Medical Advocacy, and Community Education and Training.
