{"id":108756,"date":"2021-10-25T23:31:04","date_gmt":"2021-10-26T03:31:04","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.thevalleyledger.com\/?p=108756"},"modified":"2021-10-25T23:31:04","modified_gmt":"2021-10-26T03:31:04","slug":"allentown-health-bureau-schedules-covid-19-booster-shots","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.thevalleyledger.com\/?p=108756","title":{"rendered":"ALLENTOWN HEALTH BUREAU SCHEDULES COVID-19 BOOSTER SHOTS"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The Allentown Health Bureau will hold clinics to administer booster shots to anyone 18 years of age and older as well as COVID-19 first and second doses to all qualifying persons ages 12 and older beginning Thursday, October 28.<\/p>\n<p>Moderna, Pfizer and Johnson &amp; Johnson vaccines and\/or boosters will be available.<\/p>\n<p>Pfizer is the only COVID-19 vaccine approved for those between 12-17 years old.<\/p>\n<p>For individuals who received a Pfizer-BioNTech or Moderna COVID-19 vaccine, the following groups are eligible for a booster shot at 6 months or more after their initial series:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>65 years and older<\/li>\n<li>Age 18+ who live in\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cdc.gov\/coronavirus\/2019-ncov\/vaccines\/booster-shot.html#long-term-care\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=https:\/\/www.cdc.gov\/coronavirus\/2019-ncov\/vaccines\/booster-shot.html%23long-term-care&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1635302912878000&amp;usg=AFQjCNHL37EK5oePWf2D31YrPhIndM_7uw\">long-term care settings<\/a><\/li>\n<li>Age 18+ who have\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cdc.gov\/coronavirus\/2019-ncov\/need-extra-precautions\/people-with-medical-conditions.html\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=https:\/\/www.cdc.gov\/coronavirus\/2019-ncov\/need-extra-precautions\/people-with-medical-conditions.html&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1635302912878000&amp;usg=AFQjCNE3-SXVLFtkRx5vM5NdJZJJ5ZIXgg\">underlying medical conditions<\/a><\/li>\n<li>Age 18+ who work or live in\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cdc.gov\/coronavirus\/2019-ncov\/vaccines\/booster-shot.html#HighRisk\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=https:\/\/www.cdc.gov\/coronavirus\/2019-ncov\/vaccines\/booster-shot.html%23HighRisk&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1635302912878000&amp;usg=AFQjCNE-j7R3IHXIgapgxD8Jw34T4K27bw\">high-risk settings<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>For the nearly 15 million people across the country who got the Johnson &amp; Johnson COVID-19 vaccine, booster shots are also recommended for those who are 18 and older and who were vaccinated two or more months ago.<\/p>\n<p>The current schedule of COVID-19 boosters or vaccinations for individuals 12 years and older is as follows:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><strong>Thursday, October 28 (9 a.m. &#8211; 2:30 p.m. at IBEW<\/strong>, 101 S. 7th\u00a0St, Allentown, PA 18101<\/li>\n<li><strong>Monday, November 1 (9 a.m. &#8211; 2:30 p.m.) at IBEW<\/strong>, 101 S. 7th St, Allentown, PA 18101<\/li>\n<li><strong>Tuesday, November 2 (9 a.m. &#8211; 2:30 p.m.) at IBEW<\/strong>, 101 S. 7th Street in Allentown, PA 18101<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Vaccines and boosters will also be available at the Allentown Health Bureau at\u00a0245 N. 6th Street, Allentown PA 18102 on Fridays from 9 a.m.-11 a.m.\u00a0and\u00a01 p.m.-3 p.m.\u00a0<em>(NOTE<\/em><em>:\u00a0 Allentown Health Bureau is closed for Thanksgiving on Thursday, November 25 and Friday, November 26.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Appointments for off-site clinics and at the Allentown Health Bureau are not necessary, but can be made through the Allentown Health Bureau at\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/gcc02.safelinks.protection.outlook.com\/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fmyahbonline.org%2Fmyahb%2Fopenscheduling&amp;data=04%7C01%7CMike.Moore%40allentownpa.gov%7C574dc7858b074c48d70b08d981c1a9f7%7C1b6e3ffc79834623ac728e476fef6b0d%7C0%7C0%7C637683491062500420%7CUnknown%7CTWFpbGZsb3d8eyJWIjoiMC4wLjAwMDAiLCJQIjoiV2luMzIiLCJBTiI6Ik1haWwiLCJXVCI6Mn0%3D%7C1000&amp;sdata=9rmIr4VmAOIpx0vK2pGXQcgw3sA9YgQ5mMYVCgkO%2FoY%3D&amp;reserved=0\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=https:\/\/gcc02.safelinks.protection.outlook.com\/?url%3Dhttps%253A%252F%252Fmyahbonline.org%252Fmyahb%252Fopenscheduling%26data%3D04%257C01%257CMike.Moore%2540allentownpa.gov%257C574dc7858b074c48d70b08d981c1a9f7%257C1b6e3ffc79834623ac728e476fef6b0d%257C0%257C0%257C637683491062500420%257CUnknown%257CTWFpbGZsb3d8eyJWIjoiMC4wLjAwMDAiLCJQIjoiV2luMzIiLCJBTiI6Ik1haWwiLCJXVCI6Mn0%253D%257C1000%26sdata%3D9rmIr4VmAOIpx0vK2pGXQcgw3sA9YgQ5mMYVCgkO%252FoY%253D%26reserved%3D0&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1635302912879000&amp;usg=AFQjCNE0MCxKovM8gg9w5ZMqt-N6MZrUFw\">https:\/\/myahbonline.org\/myahb\/openscheduling<\/a>.\u00a0 Choose Immunization Clinic. Vaccination remains the best way to protect yourself and reduce the spread of the virus and help prevent new variants from emerging.<\/p>\n<p>Please remember to bring your white CDC card with you to your appointment.<\/p>\n<p>There is no charge for the COVID-19 vaccination.<\/p>\n<p>Additional vaccination and booster clinic dates will be scheduled.<\/p>\n<p>In addition, Allentown EMS paramedics will vaccinate those city residents with health conditions and mobility issues preventing them from reaching a vaccine clinic.<\/p>\n<p>If you (or a family member\/client) meet these conditions, please call our Homebound Vaccine Hotline at 610-260-0360, and leave a clear message with your NAME, PHONE NUMBER, and\u00a0ADDRESS (please provide your contact information if scheduling on behalf of someone).
