Make the Road Pennsylvania, the largest Latinx organizing group in Pennsylvania, today criticized a Commonwealth Court decision striking down the vote-by-mail provision in Act 77 and the organized attacks by lawmakers to silence voters.<\/p>\n
In a statement released today, Diana Robinson, civic engagement director, contends the real impetus behind the push to eliminate vote by mail is partly due to record turnout in recent elections, especially among Black and Brown voters who turned out in record numbers.<\/p>\n
Said Diana Robinson, civic engagement director for Make the Road Pennsylvania:<\/strong><\/p>\n \u201cToday’s court decision is the latest attack by lawmakers who for more than a year have launched a coordinated effort to silence voters.<\/p>\n \u201cThese lawmakers continually talk about restoring the integrity and security of our elections, but their actions speak louder than words. Their idea of election integrity is sowing as much confusion as possible. Their idea of security is putting restrictions on who can vote and how they can cast a ballot.<\/p>\n \u201cAll this decision does is fuel the distrust of Black and Brown communities throughout the commonwealth.
