{"id":111461,"date":"2022-03-18T22:27:06","date_gmt":"2022-03-19T02:27:06","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.thevalleyledger.com\/?p=111461"},"modified":"2022-03-18T22:27:06","modified_gmt":"2022-03-19T02:27:06","slug":"panko","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.thevalleyledger.com\/?p=111461","title":{"rendered":"Panko Crusted Panfish &#8211;  By Joe Scrizzi"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Spring is right around the corner (we hope), which brings thoughts of Spring Fishing Season.<\/p>\n<p>Trout &amp; Panfish.<\/p>\n<p>Panfish (Bluegill, Perch, Rock Bass) spawn in May and early June, that is when they are the most active.<\/p>\n<p>My favorite fish to catch are panfish (bluegill, pumpkinseed, red ear).<\/p>\n<p>I was taught at a young age how to catch, filet and cook these delicate tasty filets.<\/p>\n<p>Below is a simple recipe that can be altered in many ways to your own liking and that I use throughout the year with freshwater &amp; saltwater varieties.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong><u>Panko Crusted Panfish<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>1 pound filets, no bones<\/p>\n<p>1 \u2013 2 cups panko bread crumbs<\/p>\n<p>1 T dried parsley<\/p>\n<p>2 tsps. garlic powder<\/p>\n<p>Few grinds of salt and pepper<\/p>\n<p>Olive oil<\/p>\n<p>Combine all dry ingredients in a shallow dish.<\/p>\n<p>Add filets to crumb mixture, press and coat.<\/p>\n<p>Add olive oil to saut\u00e9 pan over medium heat.<\/p>\n<p>Add coated filets, cook for 1 or 2 minutes per side.<\/p>\n<p>Lay filets on paper towels to drain.<\/p>\n<p>Serve as a sandwich or plate with a starch &amp; veggies.<\/p>\n<h4><a href=\"http:\/\/www.thevalleyledger.com\/?cat=2360\">For more fresh recipes and articles by\u00a0<strong>Joe<\/strong>\u00a0Scrizzi click here\u2026<\/a><\/h4>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Spring is right around the corner (we hope), which brings thoughts of Spring Fishing Season.
