GRAMMY AWARD WINNER ZIGGY MARLEY, WITH OPENING GUEST KAZAYAH, WILL PERFORM ON THE WIND CREEK STEEL STAGE ON TUES., AUGUST 9, 2022<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

BETHLEHEM, Pa. \u2013\u00a0ArtsQuest<\/a>\u00a0is excited to welcome Ziggy Marley \u2013 A Live Tribute to His Father to\u00a0Musikfest<\/a>, its flagship festival, in 2022. Marley, along with opener Kazayah, will headline the Wind Creek Steel Stage at PNC Plaza on\u00a0Tues., August 9<\/strong>. Tickets will go on sale to\u00a0ArtsQuest members<\/a>\u00a0beginning\u00a0Tues., March 22\u00a0<\/strong>and to the public on\u00a0Fri., March 25<\/strong>\u00a0on\u00a0musikfest.org<\/a>. A dollar from each ticket sold will go to benefit the\u00a0U.R.G.E. Foundation<\/a>. The Jamaican musician and philanthropist has curated his concert in celebration of his late father, Bob Marley\u2019s 75th<\/sup>\u00a0birthday. Marley began his own music career in 1979 with his siblings as the Melody Makers. Their first single, \u201cChildren Playing in the Streets\u201d was written by their father Bob and all royalties were pledged to the United Nations. After Bob Marley\u2019s death in 1981, Ziggy performed alongside his father\u2019s band The Wailers. Four years later, the Melody Makers reunited and released their first album\u00a0Play the Game Right<\/em>\u00a0in 1985. The sibling group received a GRAMMY award for their second album\u00a0Conscious Party<\/em>\u00a0in 1988. In 2002, Ziggy launched his solo career with his debut album\u00a0Dragonfly in\u00a0<\/em>2003included tracks \u201cTrue to Myself\u201d and \u201cRainbow in the Sky\u201d featuring both Flea and John Frusciante of the Red Hot Chili Peppers. Throughout the course of his career, Ziggy has collaborated with many family members, friends and musicians including Donna Summer, Woody Harrelson, Paul Simon and Willie Nelson. In 2009 Ziggy\u2019s album\u00a0Family Time<\/em>\u00a0received a GRAMMY award for Best Musical Album for Children. Ziggy\u2019s most recent studio album\u00a0Rebellion Rises<\/em>\u00a0was released in May 2018. Ziggy has received eight GRAMMY awards during his career, as well as a Daytime Emmy Award. In 2021, he was inducted into the International Reggae and World Music Hall of Fame, receiving the Lifetime Achievement Award.Ziggy founded Unlimited Resources Giving Enlightenment (U.R.G.E) and was signed on as an official supporter in 2007 to Little Kids Rock.<\/p>\n

Musikfest will take place Aug. 5 \u2013 14, 2022. This year\u2019s lineup includes\u00a0Counting Crows<\/a>,\u00a0Willie Nelson & Family<\/a>,\u00a0Kelsea Ballerini<\/a>,\u00a0ALABAMA<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0Poison<\/a>. Additional announcements will be shared throughout the year.\u00a0The new Musikfest poster<\/a>, by renowned fine artist Bart Cooper, was unveiled in Nov. Overall, an estimated 1,127,000 people attended Musikfest in 2021 and the 11-day festival had an estimated $67 million impact on the Lehigh Valley Region of Pennsylvania.<\/p>\n
