BETHLEHEM, PA– Senior dance students will be showcasing their choreography skills in the Lehigh Valley Charter High School for the Arts’ annual\u00a0Young Choreographers in Concert\u00a0<\/strong><\/em>event taking place April 1 & 2, 2022, at the school, located at 321 East 3rd Street in Bethlehem.<\/p>\n

Young\u00a0Choreographers\u00a0in\u00a0Concert<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0(YCC)<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0\u00a0is the culminating event, or final exam, for the Senior Dance Composition course.\u00a0Each senior student creates original\u00a0choreography\u00a0that is cohesively inspired by a theme of their choosing and sets their work on\u00a0freshman, sophomore and junior dancers. This year’s performance features\u00a0twenty-nine\u00a0choreographers\u00a0and more than\u00a070\u00a0dancers.<\/p>\n

This year, the students’ choreography features a wide range of relevant themes\u00a0including gentrification and its effects on communities, the bleaching of coral reefs, the political divide in our country, dealing with a mental block as shown through the inspiration of diving, and the fear of growing up.<\/p>\n

Concert\u00a0co-director, Amy Berry says, “YCC is an invaluable opportunity for students to find their creative selves and to see an artistic process through from conception to the stage.\u00a0A physical and visual expression of the students’ inner feeling and interests that is always an exciting and entertaining surprise to watch!”<\/p>\n

Evening performances will take place on April\u00a01 & 2 at 7 PM and a matinee performance will take place on April 2 at 2 PM.\u00a0\u00a0 Tickets for the show are $5-$10 and can be purchased at\u00a0www.CharterArts.org<\/a>.<\/p>\n
