Founded in 1981 in Jamestown, NY,\u00a0<strong>10,000 Maniacs<\/strong>\u00a0has weathered few personnel chang370es and is still anchored by 4 out of 6 of the original members:\u00a0<strong>Steven Gustafson<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Dennis Drew<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>John Lombardo<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0<strong>Jerry Augustyniack<\/strong>.\u00a0 Founding lead singer,\u00a0<strong>Natalie Merchant<\/strong>, left in 1993 to pursue a solo career and was replaced by back-up singer,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/michelleroche.us7.list-manage.com\/track\/click?u=2364a2dd6e3b55c8a8cefd3df&amp;id=d8e499263c&amp;e=d49bf71944\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=https:\/\/michelleroche.us7.list-manage.com\/track\/click?u%3D2364a2dd6e3b55c8a8cefd3df%26id%3Dd8e499263c%26e%3Dd49bf71944&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1649284385460000&amp;usg=AOvVaw2fPp_QXSN3XFBNnM0QXw5o\"><strong>Mary Ramsey<\/strong><\/a>, who proved to be a natural fit for the band vocally and added another dimension to the group with her prowess on violin and viola.\u00a0 Sadly, founding member,\u00a0<strong>Robert Buck<\/strong>, passed away in 2000 and was replaced by his longtime guitar tech,\u00a0<strong>Jeff Erickson<\/strong>.\u00a0 For\u00a0<strong>10,000 Maniacs<\/strong>, it really is about keeping it all in the family.<\/p>\n<p><strong>10,000 Maniacs<\/strong>\u00a0is one of the most enduring and recognizable bands from the early &#8220;alternative rock&#8221; movement having released close to 20 albums.\u00a0 Their critically acclaimed, break-out album,\u00a0<em>In My Tribe<\/em>, was included in\u00a0<em>Rolling Stone Magazine<\/em>\u2019s &#8220;<strong>100 Best Albums Of The Eighties.\u201d \u00a0<\/strong>In 1993,<strong>\u00a010,000 Maniacs<\/strong>\u00a0made their iconic performance on\u00a0<strong>MTV&#8217;s &#8220;Unplugged&#8221;<\/strong>;<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>the released recording of that show would go on to sell millions of copies. All told the band has sold over 10 million albums, with 8\u00a0<em>Billboard\u00a0<\/em>Hot 100 singles, and has made countless appearances on national TV, including\u00a0<em>Saturday Night Live<\/em>,\u00a0<em>The Late Show With David Letterman<\/em>, and more.\u00a0 Their music continues to be heard in films and TV shows.<\/p>\n<p>Now back on the road after a lengthy, but productive, break due to the pandemic,\u00a0<strong>10,000 Maniacs<\/strong>\u00a0is doing what they love the most, which is bringing their music to their fans, both old and new.\u00a0 For the live experience, the band pulls from their entire catalogue and continues to earn rave reviews for their performances.\u00a0<strong>Ramsey<\/strong>\u00a0comments, \u201cIt was a happy day when we all in the arts and everyday life were able to start experiencing the freedom to breathe and be in safe and nurturing environments. I have been energized by our amazing and loyal fans.\u201d While\u00a0<strong>Drew<\/strong>\u00a0adds, \u201cI\u2019m thrilled to be out and playing with my best friends again. I feel rejuvenated. Like Joni Mitchell sang \u2018Don\u2019t it always seem to go that you don\u2019t know what you\u2019ve got till it\u2019s gone?\u2019 \u00a0I know what I have\u2026a strong and loving family at home and a strong and loving, creative and exciting family on stage.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The time off the road gave the band time to write new material, with a couple dozen new tunes in the works for a new studio album.\u00a0<strong>Gustafson<\/strong>\u00a0expounds, \u201cWe had been on a steady diet of touring for about 10 years straight without much time off\u00a0so\u00a0It was a shock to be completely shut down.\u00a0 We had been complaining about not finding the time to write and record songs together and the pandemic made that time for us.\u00a0 We began writing and recording in summer of 2021.
