The Elections Office reports that outside groups are mailing unsolicited voter registration and mail-in ballot applications to citizens in Northampton County. In some cases, the applications are partially filled out with the citizen\u2019s information. These mailings are causing confusion among those voters who have already filled out an application and are scheduled to receive a mail-in ballot for the Primary Election.<\/p>\n

Statement from the Elections Office: \u201cWe want the public to know that the Elections Office does not send out unsolicited applications. These mailings have generated a great deal of confusion. Anyone who receives an unsolicited application should check the \u2018Paid by\u2019 notice to see which group sent it.\u201d<\/p>\n

Groups which have sent out unsolicited applications include the Center for Voter Information and the Voter Participation Center. The letters have a code near the bottom that can be used to email the organizations and be removed from their mailing list: unsubscribe@centerforvoterinformation.org or unsubscribe@voterparticipation.org<\/p>\n

Mail-in and Absentee ballots for Northampton County residents started being mailed out on April 22nd. Voters can check their registration status and the status of their ballot at vote.pa.gov. Ballots must be returned to the Elections Office by 8:00PM on May 17th in order to be counted. Ballots can be returned via the U.S. mail, directly to the Elections Office at 669 Washington Street, Easton, PA or in one of the County\u2019s four secure ballot drop-off boxes. Voters are reminded to only drop off their own ballot. To drop off someone else\u2019s ballot you must have a \u201cCertification of Designated Agent\u201d form on file at the Elections Office.<\/p>\n
