Employee burnout is a big problem for employers, but there are clear warning signs to detect it, and steps businesses can take to stem it.<\/strong><\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p>In 2019, the World Health Organization (WHO) lent some serious weight to the once-colloquial phrase \u201cprofessional burnout,\u201d elevating it to an official syndrome on its international\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.who.int\/standards\/classifications\/classification-of-diseases\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">classification of diseases<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>WHO declared burnout an \u201coccupational phenomenon \u2026 resulting from chronic workplace stress that has not been successfully managed.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Addressing workplace burnout has become an increasingly difficult challenge for employees and employers alike.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI believe it\u2019s the top issue for businesses today,\u201d said Karie Batzler, director of behavioral health at Capital Blue Cross. \u201cThere\u2019s nothing more important than taking care of ourselves and our employees, and attrition due to burnout wreaks havoc with a company\u2019s ability to breed consistency with its customers or clients.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>Article continued at\u00a0<span style=\"color: #3366ff;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/thinkcapitalbluecross.com\/burnout-a-top-issue-for-businesses-today\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"> https:\/\/thinkcapitalbluecross.com\/<\/a>\u00a0<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/thinkcapitalbluecross.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"color: #3366ff;\">THINK<\/span>\u00a0<\/a><\/strong>(Trusted Health Information, News, and Knowledge) is a community publication of Capital Blue Cross.
