County Council approved all awards for a total $225,000.<\/p>\n<p>Livable Landscape grants are open to institutions of Higher Education, authorized organizations and county municipalities. Eligible projects include land preservation, ecological restoration, acquisition of municipal parks and planning, education and outreach for management of critical habitats, open space and natural areas.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s important that we support our municipalities in expanding and improving their recreational properties and open space,\u201d says Lamont McClure. \u201cThe pandemic has shown us how crucial parks and trails are to both the health and well-being of our residents and our wildlife.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cLivable Landscape grants expand opportunities for local recreation as well as giving municipalities the chance to install green infrastructure such as riparian buffers, wild flower meadows and native plants,\u201d says Bryan Cope, Superintendent of Parks and Recretion.<\/p>\n<p>The grants received a unanimous vote from the Northampton County Parks, Recreation and Open Space Advisory Board at their meeting on June 16th.<\/p>\n<p><strong>2022 Livable Landscape Grant Awards<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>$ 20,000 to PA Parks &amp; Forests Foundation for Henry\u2019s Woods Stream Restoration at Jacobsburg Park<\/p>\n<p>$100,000 to Wildlands Conservancy for Bushkill Stream Restoration in the City of Easton<\/p>\n<p>$ 75,000 to the Borough of Tatamy for Trailhead crossings<\/p>\n<p>$ 30,000 to East Allen Township to update the Township\u2019s Comprehensive Park, Recreation &amp; Open Space Plan<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Information provided to TVL by:<br \/>\nBecky Bartlett<br \/>\nDeputy Director of Administration<br \/>\nNorthampton County Government Center<br \/>\n669 Washington Street<br \/>\nEaston, PA 18042<br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/www.northamptoncounty.org\/\">https:\/\/www.northamptoncounty.org\/<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Lamont McClure, Director of Parks &amp; Recreation Bryan Cope and Conservation Coordinator Sherry Acevedo presented four Livable Landscape grants to County Council at the June 16th meeting.
