It\u2019s not too Late to Learn Chess from a State Scholastic Chess Champion while Helping Your Community<\/u><\/p>\n
For the third year in a row, Anish Pallod, a three-time state chess champion, will hold an online beginner-level chess camp to benefit the Allentown Rescue Mission and Cetronia Ambulance Corps. The virtual camp is for students in grades 2-8 and will run from Monday, August 8th<\/sup>, 2022, through Friday, August 12th<\/sup>, 2022. The camp\u2019s goal is to teach chess to kids who want to learn a fun, strategy-based game and raise awareness for two local service organizations. Participants will learn the rules of the game and develop the skills needed to play full-length games at the end of camp.<\/p>\n Anish, who is entering Parkland High School this year, decided to raise support for the Allentown Rescue Mission after his family’s involvement as volunteers at the Mission and seeing the effects that Covid-19 had on the homeless community. “I feel so fortunate in my life and believe in using it to help those less fortunate,” he said, adding, “It’s important to work together to handle whatever challenge we face”.<\/p>\n After teaching the camp for two years, Anish has adapted his syllabus for optimal learning. Entering year three, he is excited to get more students interested in chess. \u201cIt is really rewarding to watch my students grow.
