{"id":113391,"date":"2022-08-24T21:31:02","date_gmt":"2022-08-25T01:31:02","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.thevalleyledger.com\/?p=113391"},"modified":"2022-08-24T21:38:40","modified_gmt":"2022-08-25T01:38:40","slug":"allentown-health-bureau-will-offer-two-monkeypox-vaccine-clinics","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.thevalleyledger.com\/?p=113391","title":{"rendered":"Allentown Health Bureau Will Offer Two Monkeypox Vaccine Clinics"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>August 24, 2022<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 The Allentown Health Bureau will offer two clinics to administer a limited supply of the monkeypox vaccine Jynneos on August 25 and September 1 from 4 to 6pm both days.<\/p>\n<p>The monkeypox vaccine is administered in two doses. The second dose will be scheduled at the time an individual receives their first vaccine.<\/p>\n<p>To be eligible to receive the vaccine, individuals must fall into the categories below:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Gay, bisexual, or other men who have sex with men, and\/or transgender, gender non-conforming, or gender non-binary persons who are age 18 or older who have had multiple (2+) or anonymous sex partners in the past 14 days<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>AND meet one of the following criteria:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Have knowledge or suspicion that they may have been exposed to monkeypox or another STI in the past 14 days<\/li>\n<li>Have had any newly diagnosed STI in the past 3 months, including gonorrhea, chlamydia, early syphilis, or HIV<\/li>\n<li>Have attended an event, met sex partner(s) through online apps or social media platforms, or exchanged money or other goods\/services for sex<\/li>\n<li>Have a condition that may increase their risk for severe disease if infected with monkeypox virus, such as HIV or another condition that weakens their immune system, or they have a history of atopic dermatitis or eczema<\/li>\n<li>Be on HIV pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP)<\/li>\n<li>Sex workers of any sexual orientation or gender identity<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The clinics are offering 30 appointments each day \u2013 a total of 60 first dose vaccines. Appointments can be scheduled by calling the Allentown Health Bureau at 610-437-7760 ext. 0.
