{"id":113841,"date":"2022-09-26T23:01:46","date_gmt":"2022-09-27T03:01:46","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.thevalleyledger.com\/?p=113841"},"modified":"2022-09-26T23:01:46","modified_gmt":"2022-09-27T03:01:46","slug":"4-h-members-bring-home-best-of-show-at-the-great-allentown-fair","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.thevalleyledger.com\/?p=113841","title":{"rendered":"4-H Members Bring Home Best of Show at the Great Allentown Fair"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Several Lehigh 4-H members were awarded the honor of Best in Show for their 4-H entries at the 2022 Great Allentown Fair.<\/p>\n<p>The winning entries are as follows:<\/p>\n<p>Allison Emanuel for her produce basket, Jonas Geiger of Schnecksville for his woodworking, Krista Lynch of Schnecksville for her sweater, Kamryn Fink of Germansville for her cake, Allison Emanuel of Laurys Station for her painting, and Rebecca Galius of Macungie for her vase arrangement.<\/p>\n<p>The entries were all created as part of a 4-H project that showcases the member\u2019s skills and what they have learned through their time in 4-H.<\/p>\n<p>Jonas\u2019s table was constructed during his time in the Neff\u2019s Clovers Club where they had a woodworking segment with craftsmen, Mike Stelts.<\/p>\n<p>Allison, a member of the Farm to Table club, utilized her skills to put together a beautiful market basket featuring tomatoes, potatoes, peppers, eggplant, and garlic.<\/p>\n<p>Krista chose to create a sweater as a sewing project in the Neff\u2019s Clovers Club.<\/p>\n<p>Kamryn took part in the new Virtual Cooking Club and used the information and techniques she learned there to bake a prize-winning cake.<\/p>\n<p>Many of these members exhibited in multiple categories including vegetables, photography, drawings, posters, and PowerPoint presentations.<\/p>\n<p>Many educational and fun activities are offered by 4-H in Pennsylvania. In Pennsylvania, 4-H is coordinated by Penn State Extension through the U.S. Department of Agriculture. 4-H programs are open to all youths regardless of race, color, religion, sex, national origin, or disability.
