High School basketball tournament invites state powerhouses to play against local teams

(Allentown, PA) \/ (October 3, 2014) \u2013Lehigh Valley Basketball Rankings.com announced details of the 6th Annual Muhlenberg College Shootout taking place on Sunday, October 12, 2014 at Muhlenberg College\u2019s Memorial Hall. High school teams will be playing three games versus unfamiliar foes in preparation for the upcoming basketball season. The event is being hosted and organized by Muhlenberg College. The shootout is $5 at the door and is open to the public. The games begin at 8 am with the last game scheduled game at 7 pm. Muhlenberg College\u2019s Memorial Hall is located at 2400 Chew Street, Allentown, PA 18104.<\/p>\n

Lehigh Valley Basketball Rankings.com (LVBR) ranks the top basketball talent in the Lehigh Valley and surrounding areas in addition to hosting camps and tournaments throughout the year. LVBR\u2019s mission is to highlight local high school basketball talent and through their tournaments and camp programs educate youth on training, technique, sportsmanship and the positive impact sports can have on their young lives. LVBR is a major sponsor of Lehigh Valley SportsFest and the annual Allentown Throwdown Basketball Tournament held every July at Cedar Beach Park in Allentown, PA.<\/p>\n

Toomey Anderson, President of LVBR, is looking forward to Sunday. \u201cI\u2019m excited about the talent. This is a high level, marquee event for our local talent and is a great opportunity to showcase what we\u2019ve got here in the Lehigh Valley.\u201d<\/p>\n

The 6th Annual Muhlenberg Shootout will take place on Sunday, October 12, 2014 starting at 8 am with the last game being held at 7 pm. Local teams participating include Allen, Emmaus, Parkland, Central Catholic, Whitehall, and Freedom. Challenging the local teams are some of the best competitors in Pennsylvania and Virginia. Constitution out of Philadelphia, last year\u2019s Pennsylvania state champion and home of several division 1 players. Imhotep from Philadelphia and winners of four Pennsylvania state championships. Westtown out of West Chester, home of multiple division players and one of the best prep programs on the East Coast. Harrisburg, an annual state power. Paul VI out of Virginia and one of the best programs in the country that his home to multiple division 1 players. Each team will play three games. Unique to this event is that local teams will not be paired against each other but to the travelling teams in preparation for the upcoming season. The event is $5 per person at the door and is being held at Muhlenberg College\u2019s Memorial Hall located at 2400 Chew Street, Allentown, PA 18104.<\/p>\n

Scott McClary, head coach of Muhlenberg College\u2019s Men\u2019s Basketball Team states \u201cIt is a win for everyone involved! It helps Muhlenberg recruiting and we get to showcase our great campus. It is also great competition for teams playing teams they don\u2019t not normally play and challenges our local teams versus outside high level competition.\u201d<\/p>\n
