{"id":114429,"date":"2022-10-28T00:12:09","date_gmt":"2022-10-28T04:12:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.thevalleyledger.com\/?p=114429"},"modified":"2022-10-28T00:12:09","modified_gmt":"2022-10-28T04:12:09","slug":"pa-representative-steve-samuelson-announces-500000-in-state-funding-for-nmih","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.thevalleyledger.com\/?p=114429","title":{"rendered":"PA REPRESENTATIVE STEVE SAMUELSON ANNOUNCES $500,000 IN STATE FUNDING FOR NMIH"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-size: 10pt;\">Photo credit &#8220;Glenn Koehler\/National Museum of Industrial History,\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/nmih.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=http:\/\/nmih.org&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1667008966678000&amp;usg=AOvVaw0hVZScYXeD7JBRfvUelVmu\">nmih.org<\/a>&#8220;<\/span><\/p>\n<p>BETHLEHEM, PA \u2013 Pennsylvania State Representative Steve Samuelson this week announced $500,000 in Redevelopment Assistance Capital Program (RACP) funding to the National Museum of Industrial History (NMIH) for its Second Floor Expansion project.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe National Museum of Industrial History is a gem with a track record of preserving, interpreting and celebrating the history which built our country,\u201d Samuelson said. \u201cI am proud to be able to secure state funding for the museum\u2019s expansion as they build upon their mission to bring our nation\u2019s rich industrial heritage to life.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOn behalf of the Board of Directors and staff of NMIH, we are so grateful to the Commonwealth of PA and Representative Samuelson for supporting the Museum in its endeavors to raise industrial history to new heights with our second-floor expansion project,\u201d said Kara Mohsinger, President &amp; CEO of the National Museum of Industrial History. \u201cThese enhancements will help NMIH tell a more diverse and inclusive story of the transformative role of industry past, present and future through dynamic exhibits, engaging programs and robust educational offerings.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The National Museum of Industrial History\u2019s mission, in affiliation with the Smithsonian Institute, is to forge a connection between America\u2019s industrial past and the innovations of today by educating the public and inspiring the visionaries of tomorrow.\u00a0 The main objective of the expansion project is to increase space for exhibits, programming and events that will educate and inspire while promoting visibility for both the Museum and the region as a vital and vibrant destination for visitors and locals alike.<\/p>\n<p>The RACP (Redevelopment Assistance Capital Program) is used for the acquisition and construction of regional economic, cultural, civic, recreational, and historical improvement projects. Qualifying projects have a regional or multi-jurisdictional impact, help create or maintain jobs, and generate economic activity.
