{"id":114437,"date":"2022-10-28T20:25:38","date_gmt":"2022-10-29T00:25:38","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.thevalleyledger.com\/?p=114437"},"modified":"2022-10-28T20:25:38","modified_gmt":"2022-10-29T00:25:38","slug":"valley-youth-house-awarded-750000-from-federal-program-to-address-housing-and-homelessness","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.thevalleyledger.com\/?p=114437","title":{"rendered":"Valley Youth House Awarded $750,000 From Federal Program to Address Housing and Homelessness"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em>The federal Dept. of Health and Human Services Family and Youth Services Bureau (FYSB) awards the funding through a competitive application process to support organizations and communities that are committed to ending youth homelessness.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>LEHIGH VALLEY, PA (10\/28\/22)<\/strong>\u00a0&#8211; Valley Youth House announces the award of $750,000 over a three-year period to fund the Transitional Living Program (TLP) that provides housing and supportive\u00a0services to young people ages 16-21 experiencing\u00a0homelessness in the Lehigh Valley.\u00a0The federal Dept. of Health and Human Services Family and Youth Services Bureau (FYSB) awards the funding through a competitive application process to support organizations and communities that are committed to ending youth homelessness.\u00a0The TLP provides a community-based system of care to build skills leading to improved well-being and self-reliance.<\/p>\n<p>Some estimates indicate that 9% of all high school students experience homelessness, threatening mental health, school performance and personal safety.\u00a0Often they are couch surfing (staying temporarily with friends), living in an abandoned building or sleeping at 24-hour laundromats.
