<\/a><\/p>\n\u201cThis trail provides a new entry point for people to ride, walk, and run,\u201d said Allentown Mayor Matt Tuerk. \u201cOne of the goals of the Vision 2030 plan is the creation of a network of greenways and urban trails. The addition of Jordan Creek Greenway gets us a step closer to that goal and provides equitable access to our parks and safe access to green spaces for our residents.\u201d<\/p>\n
The project received funding through the Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources, the Harry C. Trexler Trust and the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis is a prime example of the power of partnerships bringing together communities for the benefit of all residents and visitors,\u201d said Interim Parks Director Rick Holtzman. \u201cThe addition of the Jordan Creek Greenway Trail will increase connectivity for all to enjoy the great park system we have in Allentown.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cIt is the residents of Allentown, our City officials, and our valued Allentown parks department staff who should be appreciated today,\u201d said Barnet H. Fraenkel, Trustee of the Harry C. Trexler Trust. \u201cYour efforts to improve, maintain and extend this park system are felt by children, adults, and elders not only in our City but throughout Lehigh County. This new trail connects us in so many ways \u2013 physically to the parks and to the water and emotionally to our treasured environment. Thank you.\u201d<\/p>\n
The trailhead is located at W. Turner and N. Jordan Streets in Allentown and travels north to and through Jordan Park, ending at MacArthur Road at the intersection with North 6th Street Extension. The trail includes a shared roadway section along North Meadow Street from Tilghman Street.<\/p>\n
