{"id":115428,"date":"2023-01-05T23:00:18","date_gmt":"2023-01-06T04:00:18","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.thevalleyledger.com\/?p=115428"},"modified":"2023-01-05T23:00:18","modified_gmt":"2023-01-06T04:00:18","slug":"easton-farmers-market-to-keep-it-fresh-and-local-with-january-14-return-of-winter-market-every-saturday","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.thevalleyledger.com\/?p=115428","title":{"rendered":"Easton Farmers\u2019 Market to keep it fresh and local with January 14 return   of Winter Market every Saturday"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-size: 10pt;\"><em><strong>(Photo courtesy of Easton Farmers\u2019 Market)<\/strong><\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">EASTON, Pa. &#8211; Jan. 5, 2023 &#8212; Easton Farmers\u2019 Market will kick off its 11th annual Winter Market (<a href=\"https:\/\/eastonfarmersmarket.com\/winter-market-2023\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">https:\/\/eastonfarmersmarket.com\/winter-market-2023\/<\/a>)\u00a0on January 14 from 10 a.m. to noon and continue every Saturday through April 29 offering a variety of local produce, dairy items, baked goods, meats, beverages and much more from a record 17 different vendors.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This year the Winter Market will find a home in the 300 block of Northampton Street, directly across from the Easton Public Market.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cHosting the Winter Market outside of the front doors of the Easton Public Market will give shoppers ready access to even more variety and local options,\u201d said Megan McBride, manager of the Easton Market District. \u201cIt\u2019s an ideal opportunity for shoppers to meet a majority of their weekly food needs with one convenient stop \u2013 outside at the Winter Market and inside at the Easton Public Market &#8212; with quality and local flavor that no supermarket can match.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cAnd with the imminent opening of the Fourth Street parking garage in February, access to both the Easton Public Market and Saturday Winter Market will be easier than ever.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Easton Farmers\u2019 Market, presented by Capital Blue, is a program of the nonprofit Greater Easton Development Partnership (GEDP).<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The 2023 Winter Market vendors are:<\/p>\n<ul style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\n<li>Apple Ridge Farm \u2013 sourdough bread, baked goods, pot pies, pastured pork, bone broth, winter soups and more<\/li>\n<li>AquaSprout Farm \u2013 (every other Saturday) Aquaponically grown butterhead lettuce, summer crisp lettuce, baby romaine, curly kale, Swiss chard, cherry tomatoes, basil, arugula and micro greens<\/li>\n<li>Breakaway Farms \u2013 pasture-raised beef, pork, chicken, eggs, sausages and more than 50 varieties of bacon<\/li>\n<li>Cabbage Throw Farm \u2013 organically-grown greens, herbs and root veggies<\/li>\n<li>Easton Salsa Co. \u2013 gourmet, handcrafted salsas and hot sauces<\/li>\n<li>Flour Shop Bakery \u2013 breads, pastries, cookies and savory crostini<\/li>\n<li>Funny Farms Apiaries (every other Saturday) \u2013 local honey and handmade products<\/li>\n<li>Jersey Pickle \u2013 pickles, olives and other fermented treats<\/li>\n<li>Maddie\u2019s Strudel Haus &#8212; homemade, authentic Hungarian strudel filled with sweet, savory fillings made from scratch<\/li>\n<li>Mia &amp; Maddie\u2019s Bakery (every other Saturday) &#8212; Custom cakes and baked goods made from scratch with unique international flavors<\/li>\n<li>Portch Tea \u2013 small-batch kombucha, hard kombucha, hot yerba mat\u00e9 and mulled cider<\/li>\n<li>Primordia Mushroom Farm \u2013 fresh mushrooms<\/li>\n<li>River Valley Community Grains &#8212; flours, grains, granola, crackers and more with a focus on regenerative agricultural methods<\/li>\n<li>Roastwell Coffee Roasters \u2013 barrel-aged coffees, bagged coffees, hot coffee and tea<\/li>\n<li>Salvaterra&#8217;s Gardens \u2013 organically-grown greens, root veggies<\/li>\n<li>Scholl Orchards \u2013 apples, pears, root veggies, winter squash, jarred butters, vinegar, hot sauce, pasta sauce &amp; ketchup<\/li>\n<li>Silverback Distillery &#8212; the only mother-daughter distilling duo in the nation crafting high quality, award-winning spirits including gin, rye whiskey and bourbon<\/li>\n<li>Zekraft \u2013 prepared salads, soups, jarred desserts and granola<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Winter Market will again offer a Winter Warrior rewards program. Shoppers can check in at the InfoTent each week and earn a gift for every six consecutive weeks attended. \u201cWe want to recognize and thank our hardy shoppers who don\u2019t let winter weather cool their passion for fresh local food,\u201d said McBride.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Winter Market vendors, as well as the Highmark Farmstand inside Easton Public Market, welcomes Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) users. Thanks to a USDA grant distributed to Buy Fresh Buy Local of the Greater Lehigh Valley, the Winter Market is able to offer a fresh food match (up to $10 per day) to stretch the dollars available for fresh fruits and vegetables.
