Ryan Mackenzie (R-Lehigh) today announced that has been appointed by the Republican leader to serve as chairman of the House Labor and Industry Committee for the 2023-24 Legislative Session. He has previously served as committee vice chairman.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis committee plays a vital role in addressing policies which impact Pennsylvania\u2019s economic success. My focus will be legislation that invests in Pennsylvania\u2019s workforce, promotes family-sustaining careers, protects employees and employers, and ensures workers are legally authorized to work in the United States,\u201d Mackenzie said. \u201cI have an extensive background in labor and business issues and look forward to bringing that experience to the committee.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Prior to being elected to office, Mackenzie served as the director of policy at the Pennsylvania Department of Labor and Industry. In this senior management role, he worked on issues relating to unemployment compensation reform, workers\u2019 comp insurance, the Uniform Construction Code, and workforce development.
