Training and upskilling opportunities<\/em><\/p>\n

BETHLEHEM, PA<\/strong>\u00a0–\u00a0Northampton Community College (NCC) is offering several opportunities for learning new skills or enhancing existing ones starting this February at its Southside Bethlehem location.<\/p>\n

The first is an\u00a0Industrial Maintenance Training Program<\/strong>\u00a0that is funded by a grant from the PA Department of Community and Economic Development and is\u00a0FREE of charge for qualified candidates<\/strong>. This accelerated, 10-week training program provides participants with the skills needed to fill high-demand positions for Lehigh Valley and Pocono businesses and embark on a new career with an\u00a0average starting salary of $25\/hour<\/strong>. Participants will gain foundational skills in industrial maintenance including OSHA 10-Hour Safety Training, electrical and mechanical maintenance concepts, an introduction to Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs), sensors and more.<\/p>\n

The program is ideal for individuals with strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, and veterans and displaced workers are encouraged to participate. To learn more, sign up for a free in-person information session on Tuesday, February 21,<\/strong>\u00a01:00 p.m., or Thursday,\u00a0March 2,\u00a0<\/strong>11:00 a.m., at\u00a0https:\/\/www.northampton.edu\/industrial-maintenance.htm<\/a>. The program will start on April 3 and run Mondays \u2013 Thursdays, 9:00 a.m. \u2013 3:00 p.m. Most of the training will occur in the Fowler Family Southside Center, 511 E. Additionally,\u00a0NCC\u2019s Center for Business and Industry\u00a0<\/strong>(CBI) is offering a variety of workshops to help participants excel professionally. Included is a new workshop, \u201cCreating a High Impact PowerPoint Presentation,\u201d February 15 and 16, which will show participants how to properly use PowerPoint software to enhance presentations. Other technology and leadership development workshops are also available and many offer continuing education credits (CEUs). For those seeking personal enrichment opportunities,\u00a0NCC\u2019s Fab Lab<\/strong>\u00a0is equipped with a woodshop, electronics lab, audio booth, metal working lab, 3D printing and a guitar-building program.\u00a0Classes in February include welding, relief carving, Arduino programming, and Bento Box ukulele and Parlor Guitar building!
