EFD is a fully professional department.<\/p>\n<p>The city pays for training through the Allentown Fire Academy. In order to take the test, candidates must be at least 20 years of age, and must be 21 years of age to be appointed. There is no upper age limit.<\/p>\n<p>Candidates who apply must first pass a physical agility test. Once they pass it, they move on to the Civil Service written exam. Firefighter work schedule is 24 hours on shift and 48 hours off shift.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019d like to encourage a diverse applicant pool, including females, to apply to compliment the diverse Easton community the fire department serves,\u201d said City of Easton Administrator Luis Campos.<\/p>\n<p>Salary highlights include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Salary during training academy &#8211; $40,732<\/li>\n<li>Salary upon graduation from academy &#8211; $52,370<\/li>\n<li>First year salary &#8211; $58,189<\/li>\n<li>Average firefighter salary (full pay) &#8211; $81,784<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>City of Easton firefighters receive an excellent benefits package, including paid time off, paid sick time, full medical coverage, dental insurance, vision coverage, and a prescription plan.<\/p>\n<p>Residency requirements apply.
