February 7th Matt Nathanson released The Lexington E.P.<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0via Acrobat Records.<\/p>\n

The E.P. is named after Nathanson\u2019s hometown of Lexington, MA, and serves as a companion piece to this past fall\u2019s acclaimed lean into the singer-songwriter genre,\u00a0Boston Accent<\/em>. The latest project expands on his acceptance of where he came from. It is an admission that as happy as he is to be away, he will always have started life as a Massachusetts boy; and he will always feel a natural affinity with others from the area.<\/p>\n

The E.P. includes a track about meeting his wife in college just after leaving Massachusetts (\u201cJapanese\u201d), covers of Simon & Garfunkel (\u201cOnly Living Boy in New York\u201d), Harry Styles, (\u201cMatilda\u201d), and \u2018Til Tuesday (\u201cComing Up Close\u201d), and a reimagined live version of Nathanson\u2019s own \u201cBlush\u201d that he describes as \u201cTHE BUSINESS\u2026like something you’d hear on an old time-y radio show.\u201d<\/p>\n

Nathanson begins touring tomorrow, February 8th, at The Plaza Live in Orlando, Florida and continues through March with more dates to be announced soon. Tickets and latest information\u00a0here<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Over his almost 30-year career, Matt Nathanson has evolved into one of the most applauded songwriters and engaging performers on the music scene today. His sixth studio album,\u00a0Some Mad Hope<\/em>, yielded his breakthrough multi-platinum hit “Come on Get Higher.\u201d He followed up with\u00a0Modern Love<\/em>, a critically acclaimed album (Pop Matters called it “the closest a pop album comes to perfection this year\u201d) that garnered Nathanson two RIAA Gold Certified singles, \u201cFaster\u201d & \u201cRun (featuring Sugarland).\u201d His 2013 release,\u00a0Last of The Great Pretenders<\/em>, debuted at #16 on the Billboard Top 200 while hitting #1 on iTunes’ Alternative Albums chart.\u00a0Sings His Sad Heart<\/em>\u00a0spawned the hit single \u201cUsed To Be\u201d which was a chart climber-hitting top 20 at Adult Top 40. Most recently, last year\u2019s\u00a0Boston Accent\u00a0<\/em>explored Nathanson\u2019s leaving behind his native Massachusetts as a young man but feeling connected to other New Englanders he found in California. Throughout his career, Nathanson has been known to cover songs and artists that inspire him. His Def Leppard-approved cover album of their iconic Pyromania called\u00a0Pyromattia<\/em>\u00a0shot to #1 on the iTunes Alternative chart and Def Leppard\u2019s Joe Elliott called the album \u201can amazing reinterpretation\u201d with \u201cheart & soul.\u201d He also covered U2\u2019s Achtung Baby as a tribute to his all-time favorite album.
