Vic will co-headlining with fellow comic Eric D’Alessandro. I was able to talk to the legend that is Vic Dibitetto for The Valley Ledger.

Hi Vic, we are so excited that you’re coming back to The State Theatre. We are excited to see you and Eric.

Vic- Us too. We can’t wait.

What are you expecting from the show?

Vic- Some good rapid fire, honest, relatable old school comedy. Eric is half my age. You’re going to hear from his side, and then your going to hear from my side. That’s why we got this tour together to combine both of our audiences. He speaks for the younger people; I speak for the older people.

How did you get started in this industry? I’ve been watching your videos for a long time, and ever since the “Bread & Milk” came out, it’s genuinely funny. We have to share it when it snows or just to laugh. It’s genuine.

Vic- [Laughing] You know what the beauty of that video is, I’ve been doing these videos since 2009, but that’s the first one that went viral. That’s the video that’s never going away. It’s like Christmas carols, it comes back every winter.

How did you get started in this industry, and did you always know this is what you wanted to do?

Vic- Yes, like most comics, I was the class clown. I grew up in Brooklyn, NY, and there was a comedy club called Pip’s Comedy Club, and at that time it was the oldest comedy club, and a lot of people started there… George Carlin, Rodney, everybody started there. It was amateur night and a friend of mine said, why don’t you give it a shot? I went onstage, and I liked it. I kept doing it, and I realized I could get paid doing this. I started featuring and opening for big names. It’s been a great journey.

What do you take away from touring, and being at these different venues?

Vic- No matter where you go, people want to laugh.

What is your favorite moment or something that you take away from doing a show?

Vic- When I do a meet and greet, and people come up to me, and say, Vic, you got me through my bad days, my depression, you got me through COVID. You can’t compare that to any standing ovation or sold-out show. People tell me that I make them forget about life for a while… like Billy Joel once said.

We are so excited that you’re coming back to Easton. This tour has been going across the country.

Vic- Yes, me and Eric have been to Ohio, Georgia, and Texas, but we’re looking forward to Easton because let’s face it, we’re both from New York, and Pennsylvania is just like New York. We like working close to home.

What do you want to say to everybody that will be going to the show?

Vic- Come on out, and have a good time. Put the phones down, enjoy the moment, have a few laughs, and let me entertain you. You got to laugh, I know it sounds cliché but it really is the best medicine. It’s good for the heart, and it’s good for the soul. We have been through a lot in the past couple of years. It’s good when I hear a room full of people laughing. Let me and Eric entertain you.

I agree, laughter is the best and the world is insane so, it’s good to have people like you and Eric.

Vic- Yes.

Do you have any words of wisdom or advice for fellow writers, comics etc.?

Vic- Yes, you either have to be lucky or you break you’re ass. It took me forty years to be an overnight success. Just show up, and put your time in, pay your dues, follow your dreams, and keep plugging. That’s all you can do.

What’s it like for you working with Eric? You both are co-headlining this tour.

Vic- Oh my God, Eric. When I look at him, that was me thirty years ago. He is tough to follow. We are both headliners. He’s not an opening act, we’re co-headlining. He’s very good looking, and when he goes onstage, you can hear the women screaming. He makes me work harder because he’s a tough act to follow. He’s my sons age, it’s crazy. He talks about what it’s like with parents, and I talk about what it’s like to have kids. That’s why this show works so well.

I think it fits well. The two of you are similar but different. It makes sense.

Vic- Exactly.

Thank you so much Vic. It was an honor to talk to you, and we’re so glad you are coming back to Easton.

Vic- Thank you. I really appreciate that. This is my third time there, and my first time with Eric.

Thank you, Vic. We are looking forward to the show. Thank you for the laughter.

Vic- Thank you.

GET TICKETS TO THE SHOW.

https://statetheatre.org/shows/show-information

Vic Dibitetto

https://vicdibitetto.net/

Eric D’Alessandro

https://www.ericdalessandro.com/

https://www.instagram.com/ericdalessandro/

By: Janel Spiegel Interview with Vic Dibitetto Uncle Vinnie’s Comedy Club presents: Funny How?
