It’s up to the audience to eliminate the comics who are high, and uncover the sober \u201cnarc\u201d so everyone can win dope prizes. “Detective” Alex Grubard seeks audience testimony, plays mind games and administers sobriety tests to the nation\u2019s premier drug-induced comics. Help uncover the \u201cnarc\u201d by weeding out the stoned!<\/div>\n

Host Alex Grubard describes what audiences can expect: \u201cThe goal is to set people up to have fun and be funny. The games are generally silly with open-ended interpretations. Because most of the players are stoned, they have giggle fits and act goofy. Simple directions can be difficult. Answers aren\u2019t supposed to be in the form of a question, but they often are.\u201d<\/div>\n

Different regional and national comedian guests (stoned and not) join Alex on stage at each show, making for wild antics, laughs, and a fresh challenge for Alex and the audience both!<\/div>\n

Weeding Out The Stoned began in Philadelphia 2015, Weeding Out The Stoned has gone on to sell out shows in over a dozen states across the country including the New York Comedy Festival, as well as Helium Comedy Club, Elysium Theater, Asylum NYC (including a monthly residence in 2021 and 2022), PianoFight and WFMU\u2019s Montgomery Hall. Weeding Out The Stoned has been called, \u201cendearingly absurd,\u201d by BrooklynVegan, \u201cthe game show for potheads,\u201d by CelebStoner and, \u201chighly entertaining,\u201d by Phindie.com. It has also been featured in Time Out New York, Philadelphia Inquirer, Emerald Magazine, Rooster Magazine, Portland Mercury, Delaware News Journal and NJ.com.<\/div>\n

Alex Grubard is a stand-up comedian, writer and game show host. Now living in Jersey City, NJ, Grubard has spent years in the New York City, Boston and Philadelphia comedy scenes. In addition to creating and hosting Weeding Out the Stoned, Grubard is a regular at the Helium Comedy Clubs and Punch Line Comedy Clubs where he has worked with headliners including Dave Attell, Tommy Davidson, Pete Holmes, Heather Macdonald, Bobby Lee, Kevin Nealon and dozens more across the country.<\/div>\n
