WASHINGTON, D.C.<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 Yesterday, Congresswoman Susan Wild spoke on the House floor to recognize an educator from Pennsylvania\u2019s 7th congressional district in honor of Teacher Appreciation Week: Mr. Mark Lavine from the Panther Valley School District.<\/p>\n

\u201cMr. Lavine epitomizes the dedication of so many educators across PA-07 who foster a lifelong love for learning in our kids,\u201d\u00a0said Congresswoman Susan Wild.<\/strong>\u00a0\u201cThis week and every week, thank a teacher who made a difference in your life, your child\u2019s life, or a loved one\u2019s life\u2014someone like Panther Valley\u2019s Mr. Lavine.\u201d<\/p>\n

About Mr. Mark Lavine:<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n

Mr. Mark Lavine has been an educator in the Panther Valley School District in Carbon County for more than two decades, teaching sixth-grade math, coaching high school football, advising the academic quiz challenge team, and mentoring new staff. He is one of many educators across the communities of Pennsylvania\u2019s 7th district whose dedication, compassion, and hard work deserve recognition during Teacher Appreciation Week (May 8 \u2013 May 12, 2023).<\/p>\n

\u201cAs Teacher Appreciation Week draws to a close, I\u2019m thrilled to recognize one of the many educators who has made an incredible impact on the lives of kids in my community: Mr. Mark Lavine from the Panther Valley School District.<\/em>\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n

\u201cA sixth-grade math teacher, Mr. Lavine has been a Panther Valley educator for 21 years. His love for teaching and mentoring extends beyond the classroom as the high school football coach, advisor for the academic quiz challenge, and organizer of school Spirit Day.<\/em>\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n

\u201cHardworking and compassionate, Mr. Lavine doubled the size of his math classes to cover for a colleague on a leave of absence, TWICE. He\u2019s known as the \u201cbig brother\u201d on staff as a mentor to new teachers, and his energy inspires a love and curiosity for math in his students.<\/em>\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n
