Peter Schweyer, today advanced legislation to support the men and women who selflessly serve our country and defend our freedom.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOur brave military heroes put their lives on the line every day and not only deserve our thanks and respect, but also the opportunities for their families to further their education and plan for their future,\u201d said Schweyer, D-Lehigh. \u201cWith these measures, we can make education more affordable and help dependents of our military families continue their college education here in Pennsylvania.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>According to Schweyer, the House Education Committee approved the following bills at today\u2019s meeting:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.legis.state.pa.us\/cfdocs\/billInfo\/billInfo.cfm?sYear=2023&amp;sInd=0&amp;body=H&amp;type=B&amp;bn=0804\">HB 804<\/a> \u2013 would guarantee in-state tuition for reassigned military families<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.legis.state.pa.us\/cfdocs\/billInfo\/billInfo.cfm?sYear=2023&amp;sInd=0&amp;body=H&amp;type=B&amp;bn=1094\">HB 1094<\/a> \u2013 would advance enrollment for military families<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.legis.state.pa.us\/cfdocs\/billInfo\/billInfo.cfm?sYear=2023&amp;sInd=0&amp;body=H&amp;type=B&amp;bn=1097\">HB 1097<\/a> \u2013 would allow schools to hold a moment of silence in observance of 9\/11<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe House Education Committee is committed to improving educational opportunities for all Pennsylvanians and efforts to deliver better schools for every student,\u201d added Schweyer.<\/p>\n<p>All three bills will now be brought to the full House for consideration.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Information provided to TVL by:<br \/>\nThomas LeClair<br \/>\nResearch Analyst<br \/>\nHouse Democratic Education Committee<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>HARRISBURG, May 22 \u2013\u00a0The PA House Education Committee, chaired by state Rep.
