The First in Math Zip Code Challenge.<\/p>\n

First in Math, an Easton-based company, is launching this initiative\u00a0in conjunction with the Montgomery County Intermediate\u00a0Unit (MCIU) to get kids and adults to talk about and engage with math in a fun way.<\/p>\n

The five-day event begins tomorrow, May 23rd, and runs through May 27th. Kids and their families can participate\u00a0by logging\u00a0into the First in Math platform (www.firstinmath.com<\/a>) and begin playing to figure out which Montogomery\u00a0County zip code\u00a0has the most fearless mathematicians. All schools in the winning zip code will receive\u00a0a prize at the end of the competition.<\/div>\n

According to the state Department of Education \u2014 less than half of all PA elementary\u00a0school students score proficient in mathematics. First in Math has a\u00a0proven track record<\/a>\u00a0of building math skills in elementary students and Sen. Lisa Boscola would like to see this program adopted statewide. She’s put forth a\u00a0current piece of legislation<\/a>\u00a0that aims to achieve this goal and the Zip Code Challenge is a pilot program that seeks to raise awareness of how fun math can be when it’s presented that way.<\/p>\n
