BETHLEHEM, PA<\/strong>\u00a0–\u00a0Northampton Community College (NCC) is providing several health and safety training opportunities this July and August for healthcare and general industry workers.<\/p>\n

This first is a\u00a0virtual information session on July 17 at 6 p.m., through Zoom<\/strong>, to go over valuable information regarding NCC\u2019s\u00a0Nursing Reactivation and Review Programs<\/strong>\u00a0to help RNs and LPNs get back into the field. NCC’s LPN and RN reactivation programs are designed for nurses who want to reinstate their licenses, international nurses looking to practice in Pennsylvania and nurses who have been away from practice and want to update their skillset. The programs include classroom and clinical labs. Practice Review programs are designed for graduate nurses preparing for the NCLEX or for nurses to review basic nursing knowledge and incorporate information on more recent technological advancements. The location for elements within the programs will vary from distance learning, on-ground portions at the Fowler Family Southside Center in Bethlehem, and\/or offsite locations. As part of\u00a0OSHA\u2019s Safe & Sound Week<\/strong>, NCC will be offering a\u00a0FREE OSHA 7500 \u2013 Introduction to Safety & Health Management class\u00a0<\/strong>on\u00a0Tuesday, August 8 from 8:30 a.m. \u2013 3:30 p.m<\/strong>. The course is open to two representatives per business and addresses the four core elements of an effective safety and health management system and those central issues that are critical to each element\u2019s proper management. This interactive training session will prepare participants to evaluate, develop, and implement an effective safety and health management system for their company. Registration is required for this free course and includes breakfast, lunch and all materials. NCC is also offering\u00a0free virtual trainings<\/strong>\u00a0on\u00a0Infection Control for General Industry Employers and Employees from July to September<\/strong>. Funded by the Susan Harwood training grant from the Occupational Safety & Health Administration, the free training covers environmental infection risks and hazards, appropriate infection control methods and procedures, and more. This program, being held over Zoom, is ideal for employees in a managerial or leadership role, including human resources professionals, industrial health and safety professionals, plant managers, and productions managers. Finally, those interested in becoming an Emergency Medical Services \u201cEMS\u201d (Emergency Medical Technician-Basic \u201cEMT-B\u201d and Emergency Medical Responder \u201cEMR\u201d) instructor can take advantage of NCC\u2019s\u00a0EMS Instructor Course<\/strong>\u00a0being held\u00a0August 18 \u2013 24\u00a0<\/strong>at the Fowler Family Southside Center. NCC\u2019s course has been approved by the Pennsylvania (PA) Department of Health (DOH) as meeting the educational course requirement to be certified by the PA DOH as an EMS Instructor. Help others learn the essentials skills to save lives and reduce injuries in the critical first moments after an emergency has occurred.
