Musikfest 2023, I missed you. It was a good day, and an excellent night for a good concert. I spent my day with my horror family in Cherry Hill, NJ, and then made my way to Bethlehem for my first Musikfest 2023 concert. It’s the 40th Anniversary of Musikfest. 40 years of bringing non-stop entertainment to the Lehigh Valley. Tonight, was no exception. Gerald is G-Eazy, and G-Eazy had some incredible opening acts.

iamchelseaiam opened the show. She had RQTek and Descendent with her. The three of them alone were just out of this galaxy. Iamchelseaiam just flowed, and had the crowd ready for Red Mcfly. Red McFly is from the Lehigh Valley originally. He showed a lot of love to the audience, and performed everything from his tribute and homage to Michael Jackson, “Leave Me Alone.” He performed “Life Is Crazy,” and by then the entire crowd was on their feet. People wanted to have fun, and Musikfest DELIVERED. Red McFly is a talented musician. DJ Menace also came out. He was part of the opening acts. Because you know he makes “The Buildings Shake.” DJ Menace played some new school Hip-Hop, and played a full homage to 50 Years of Hip-Hop.

Let’s take a moment to talk about Hip-Hop. I grew up listening to everyone from Snoop Dogg, Slick Rick, Wu-Tang Clan, Grandmaster Flash & The Furious Five, Public Enemy, RUN DMC, Eric B & Rakim, Doug E Fresh & The Get Fresh Crew, DJ KOOL (May we just say, LET ME CLEAR MY THROAT is ONE OF THE BEST HYPE SONGS EVER MADE. THANK YOU DJ KOOL) Salt-N-Pepa with DJ Spindarella, MC Lyte, LL Cool J, Big Daddy Kane, Boogie Down Productions, N.W.A., Dr. Dre, Ice Cube, Ice-T (O.G. Original Gangster is one of his best songs ever.) Kurtis Blow, The Sugarhill Gang, Schoolly D, The Beastie Boys, Bel Biv Devoe, Ultramagnetic MCs, The Treacherous Three, EPMD, Biz Markie, Eazy E, Afrika Bambaataa, Special Ed, Gang Starr, Fat Boys, Foxy Brown, Ol Dirty B*stard, Coolio, Blackstreet, Queen Pen, DMX, Kelis, Kriss Kross, Bone Thugs-N-Harmony, The Notorious B.I.G., Rob Base & DJ EZ Rock, Black Sheep, Nice & Smooth, Pras, Wreckx-N-Effect, Busta Rhymes, Mobb Deep, 2Pac, Tone-Loc, Skee-Lo, House of Pain, Tag Team, Quad City DJ’s, 2 Live Crew, Busy Bee, Mark Morrison’s “Return of the Mack.” Method Man, Juvenile, Nelly, and Eminem.

And then of course we have some new school Hip-Hop artists including: Drake, Kendrick Lamar, Chance the Rapper, J. Cole, Denzel Curry, Future, Lil Uzi Vert, Logic, Tyler, the Creator, and G-Eazy. Hip-Hop has been an influential part of society forever. It’s like the Blues, the Blues inspired so much music.

After Red McFly, and DJ Menace had the crowd as hyped as possible. The lights went out, and the crowd started screaming, G-Eazy came out and he was joined on stage by his DJ, DJ QUIZ, it was DJ Quiz’s birthday, Happy Birthday again. It was great to do an entire Happy Birthday sing-along with the crowd. My section was great. Everyone was singing, dancing, and having fun. G-Eazy performed a variety of songs. He performed some new songs, and he took it way back for the die-hard fans. He performed everything from “I Mean It,” “When You’re Gone” featuring Lil Wayne, he performed “Provide” which features Mark Morrison’s song, “Return of The Mack.” He performed “Boss Tycoon,” “1942”, “Tumblr Girls,” G-Eazy performed “Him and I.” A song written by Halsey and G-Eazy. Only Halsey can rock this song with him, so, it was nice to hear this song. “Me, Myself & I” was another crowd favorite. I don’t think people could have screamed any louder. G-Eazy was humble, and thanked the crowd almost after every song. He performed several other songs, and he samples Suzanne Vega’s version of her song, “Tom’s Diner.” Thank you so much to the Musikfest staff, the Bethlehem Police Department, everyone involved. You did an amazing job. I cannot wait for the next concert.

G-Eazy brought the ENERGY. The energy was non-stop. The audience had a blast. He talked to people, he grabbed phones from fans and filmed himself, and the crowd. He was having a blast, and we were having a blast right along with him. G-Eazy said, he prefers to say he can call his fans his friends, instead of fans. So, here’s to all his new friends. Thank you for coming to Musikfest 2023 G-Eazy. We can always “Still Be Friends.”

https://g-eazy.com/

https://www.musikfest.org/

http://www.iamchelseaiam.com/

RED MCFLY https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCZU5SF2R8Cn5BdaOXzDMKEA

https://www.instagram.com/descendent__/

Review By: Janel Spiegel G-EAZY with special guests Red McFly and iamchelseaiam August 5, 2023 7:00PM Wind Creek Steel Stage 711 E.
