During the event held from November 22, 2015 through January 2, 2016, Subaru of America, Inc. donated $250 for every new Subaru vehicle purchased or leased to the customer\u2019s choice of participating charities, including Meals on Wheels America, of which Meals on Wheels of Lehigh County is a Member.<\/p>\n<p>Pamela S. Bechtel, Executive Director, said: \u201cThis year we need to raise $615,000 to meet the need for home-delivered meals, friendly visits and well being checks for 450 homebound seniors and adults with disabilities each weekday.\u00a0 We cannot thank Subaru of America enough for supporting our program and hundreds across the country so that we may meet our mission.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Meals on Wheels of Lehigh County partnered with Ciocca Subaru during the 2015 holiday season to raise funds and awareness of senior isolation and hunger in Lehigh County. Subaru employees delivered meals and learned first-hand the importance of this service that helps people live independently in their own homes for as long as possible.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOver the last eight years, Subaru and its local retailers have truly become an extension of the Meals on Wheels family, and their impact is felt long after this popular year-end event concludes,\u201d said Ellie Hollander, Meals on Wheels America President and CEO.\u00a0\u201cSubaru\u2019s continued investment in the Meals on Wheels movement helps communities across the country deliver more nutritious meals, friendly visits and safety checks to our most vulnerable seniors.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The 2015-2016 Share the Love funds will continue to benefit local Meals on Wheels America Member organizations throughout the year through additional grant opportunities, Annual Conference scholarships and by sponsoring the organization\u2019s annual March for Meals campaign.<\/p>\n<p><strong>About Meals on Wheels of Lehigh County<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Each weekday, Meals on Wheels of Lehigh County, a nonprofit agency, serves 450 homebound seniors and adults with disabilities living throughout Lehigh County.912 individual and group volunteers deliver about 168,000 meals each year; almost seven million since 1971.\u00a0 Volunteers also provide a social connection and a well-being check.\u00a0 The Agency also offers grocery shopping services to more than 100 clients.
