FEMA Joint Preliminary Damage Assessments\u00a0teams visited Northampton County to complete assessments on August 2nd, August 3rd, August 8th, and August 9th. \u201cUnfortunately, assistance from the federal government is not guaranteed,\u201d says County Executive Lamont G. McClure.<\/p>\n<p>As of today, Monday, August 14, 2023:<strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>13 total public entities reported municipal damages:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Bangor Borough\u00a0<em>(infrastructure, roadways)<\/em><\/li>\n<li>County of Northampton\u00a0<em>(bridges)<\/em><\/li>\n<li>East Bangor Borough\u00a0<em>(roadways)<\/em><\/li>\n<li>Forks Township\u00a0<em>(infrastructure, roadways)<\/em><\/li>\n<li>Lower Mount Bethel Township\u00a0<em>(roadways)<\/em><\/li>\n<li>Nazareth Borough<em>(roadways, park)<\/em><\/li>\n<li>Palmer Township\u00a0<em>(infrastructure, parks\/recreation)<\/em><\/li>\n<li>Pen Argyl Borough<em>(roads)<\/em><\/li>\n<li>Plainfield Township\u00a0<em>(infrastructure, roadways)<\/em><\/li>\n<li>Stockertown Borough\u00a0<em>(park, recreational trail)<\/em><\/li>\n<li>Tatamy Borough\u00a0<em>(municipal park)<\/em><\/li>\n<li>Washington Township\u00a0<em>(infrastructure, roadways)<\/em><\/li>\n<li>West Easton<em>(roadways)<\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Seven municipalities have enacted Disaster Declarations due to damages sustained:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Bangor Borough (7\/17)<\/li>\n<li>Forks Township (7\/20)<\/li>\n<li>Lower Mount Bethel Township (7\/16)<\/li>\n<li>Palmer Township (7\/21)<\/li>\n<li>Plainfield Township (7\/18)<\/li>\n<li>Upper Mount Bethel Township (7\/20)<\/li>\n<li>Washington Township (7\/17)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Preliminary Public Assistance Damage Cost Estimate:<\/p>\n<p>Accumulatively\u00a0<em>(county-wide)<\/em>\u00a0damages are currently estimated to be $10,181,006.57, with some of the affected municipalities still working to report their estimated costs.<\/p>\n<p>This estimated cost to date includes:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>$400,000 in damages to county bridges;<\/li>\n<li>$1.6 million in damages reported in Forks Township;<\/li>\n<li>$1 million + in damages in Lower Mount Bethel Township; and<\/li>\n<li>$3.7 million in damages in Palmer Township.<\/li>\n<li>The 2022-2023 Public Assistance County &amp; State Threshold Figures state that Northampton County must accumulatively (municipalities and County) document a minimum of $1,389,502.44 in Public Assistance damages. In addition, the Commonwealth must document (all counties and state agencies) a minimum of $23,014,795 for any county or the Commonwealth to be awarded a Disaster Declaration.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>A total of 315 residential units were assessed during the FEMA Joint Preliminary Damage Assessments\u00a0team visit.
