\nA PASSPORT TO HISTORY EVENT HOSTED BY
\nTHE NATIONAL MUSEUM OF INDUSTRIAL HISTORY<\/p>\n
LEHIGH VALLEY (September 13, 2023)\u00a0–\u00a0Area teachers are invited to\u00a0enjoy an evening of light refreshments and history with favorite local cultural organizations<\/p>\n
As a new school year begins, Passport to History partners invite educators to Teachers’ Night Out, hosted by the\u00a0National Museum of Industrial History<\/a>.<\/p>\n Teachers can\u00a0earn continuing education credits, view\u00a0presentations and hands-on demonstrations, and browse\u00a0resources from partner sites.<\/p>\n Whether they are looking for future field trip sites, standards-based curriculum and lesson plans, or classroom programming, they will find a wealth of information and connections during the evening.<\/p>\n Emma Scheinmann, Manager of Education & DEAI Coordinator at the National Museum of Industrial History, notes, “We work closely with teachers throughout the year and know they are always looking for creative ways to incorporate local history and S.T.E.A.M. concepts into their lesson plans. Our aim with Teachers’ Night Out, and with the Passport to History partnership, is to provide busy teachers with the resources and connections they need, all in one place.”<\/p>\n She adds, “We are thrilled to host this year\u2019s Teachers\u2019 Night Out. It is a wonderful event providing teachers access to their local cultural organizations and new strategies for engaging with their students. It is our goal to be a partner to teachers, and to provide valuable and practical opportunities for all educators and students.”<\/p>\n Teachers will meet educators and staff from these historic sites:<\/p>\n Special presentations and demonstrations will be provided by:<\/p>\n Whitney Davison\u00a0was a longtime teacher before becoming\u00a0Education Manager for the Delaware & Lehigh National Heritage Corridor and National Canal Museum. “A great way to teach history,” she says, “is to teach global topics locally in the places where historical events actually happened. The best ways to do that are through field trips or to bring artifacts and educators from historic sites and museums into the classroom.
