BETHLEHEM, PA — The Lehigh Valley Charter High School\u00a0for\u00a0the\u00a0Arts\u00a0(Charter\u00a0Arts) Visual Arts Department kicks off its season with an exhibit featuring the work of professional artist, Ken Kewley.\u00a0The exhibit is on display in the school’s Corpora Gallery from September 13-October 13, 2023 with a FREE public art reception on Friday, October 6 from 6-8 PM as part of the Southside Arts District’s\u00a0First Friday celebration.<\/div>\n

\"\"The exhibit features over 90 artworks – collage, paint, and mixed media. Ken’s work explores the interplay of color, shapes, and abstraction.<\/div>\n

The school’s Corpora Gallery is\u00a0host to a full schedule of both professional and student exhibitions each\u00a0school year.\u00a0 In addition to attracting the community for public events, the professional artists and exhibits also act as a great learning tool for students.<\/div>\n

ABOUT THE CHARTER ARTS VISUAL ARTS DEPARTMENT:<\/u><\/b><\/p>\n

The Charter Arts Visual Arts Department provides a structured and classical art education. Students are rigorously trained in drawing, painting, sculpture, design, and educated in art history. The goal is to promote a return to excellence in the visual arts through intensive training and the implementation of high standards.<\/p>\n

Presented as an academic as well as an artistic pursuit, the courses inspire students to perceive connections between art and other subject areas. Students build upon learned concepts with the intention of gaining mastery, concentration, a strong work ethic, and self-discipline. Through practice, study, analysis, reading, and research, they learn to apply their intelligence and discernment to the art they create.<\/p>\n
