Crayola Experience Celebrates 1,166 lb Crayon\u2019s 20th Birthday Today"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>EASTON, Pa.\u00a0<\/strong>(Oct. 11, 2023) \u2013 Crayola\u2019s \u201cBig Blue\u201d crayon has left its teens and entered adulthood, and Crayola Experience in downtown Easton is having a party.<\/p>\n<p>Families visiting the colorful attraction today are recognizing the colossal blue crayon\u2019s birthday by crafting birthday cards and posting them on Big Blue\u2019s case.<\/p>\n<p>This GenZ-er was introduced to the world 20 years ago today at a hometown parade marking the 100<sup>th<\/sup>\u00a0birthday of an American icon\u2014the Crayola crayon. Affectionately known as \u201cBig Blue\u201d, the crayon weighs 1,166 lbs. (1,500 lbs. including the case), is 15 ft. long and 1.33 ft. in diameter, and was made in America\u2019s favorite color.<\/p>\n<p>Big Blue was born with the help of kids across the country who contributed their blue \u201cleftolas\u201d\u2014left\u00a0over broken crayons.\u00a0The waxy blue nubs were melted down with hot liquid paraffin wax to form a crayon equaling 123,000 regular size crayons. Bib Blue is so big it could color a straight line nearly 10 miles long, or color an area the size of a football field.<\/p>\n<p>In 2003, Big Blue broke the world record for the largest crayon.
