It takes months of planning and coordination as well as the holiday spirit of a team of passionate people. Such is the case in Easton, where the Greater Easton Development Partnership will be delivering 235 wreaths to downtown businesses on November 16.

It will be the fifth year in a row that GEDP’s Easton Main Street Initiative has delivered festive wreaths. The EMSI Design Committee was inspired by the uniformed storefront decor displayed during the holiday season in the suburban neighborhood of Philadelphia’s Chestnut Hill, where twinkling white lights, green and red bows elegantly frame each storefront window and door throughout the entire downtown shopping district. GEDP wanted a look that gives the community all the holiday feels while making it easier for Downtown Easton’s businesses to work together to achieve it. These are a gift from GEDP.

The wreaths have a special addition: handmade bows crafted by long-time GEDP volunteer JoAnn Durante.

JoAnn is the ‘Christmas Queen’. She has been on the EMSI Events committee since retiring as an educator nearly 10 years ago. Her genuine love of all things Christmas led her to EMSI with a kind offer to help and share her ideas to create holiday warmth for the community. She makes amazing bows and makes them FAST! She starts making the bows in January and has them completed by the end of the cold winter months!

“The coordinated holiday greenery provides shoppers with a festive trail of wreaths and red bows to follow as they make their way around town and through our Winter Village. Our business owners enjoy working together to engage with the holiday spirit that shines bright in the Easton community.” – Kim Kmetz, GEDP’s Main Street Manager

Businesses are welcome and encouraged to add lights and more greenery available from GEDP’s project partner and Main Street business, Bloomies Flower Shop.

Easton Winter Village will return November 18 in Centre Square —

Discover a wide variety of locally-owned shops, boutiques, and artisan markets offering unique gifts, fashion, art, and more.
