BETHLEHEM (January 16, 2024)<\/strong> \u2013 State Senator Lisa Boscola announced today that $323,500 in state funding has been awarded for parks and recreation, watershed protection and sewage facilities projects in the 18th<\/sup> Senatorial District through the Act 13 Marcellus Legacy Fund Grant Program.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis state funding through the Marcellus Legacy Fund will aid our local governments to improve the quality of life in their municipalities through increased recreational opportunities and protecting our environment,\u201d Senator Boscola stated.\u00a0 \u201cI\u2019m pleased to announce the approval of these funds to help expedite important projects throughout the 18th<\/sup> Senatorial District,\u201d Boscola said.<\/p>\n

The Commonwealth Financing Authority (CFA) approved the following projects:<\/p>\n

Greenways, Trails and Recreation<\/strong><\/p>\n

Borough of Hellertown – Reinhard’s Park Development Phase I $100,000<\/p>\n

City of Bethlehem – City of Bethlehem Recreation Plan $108,650<\/p>\n

City of Easton – Two Rivers Waterfront Planning Project $50,000<\/p>\n

Sewage Facilities
\n<\/strong>Palmer Township – Updated Act 537 Plan $14,850<\/p>\n

Watershed Restoration
\n<\/strong>Palmer Township – Fox Run Park and Open Space Schoeneck Creek Project $50,000<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

The grants were approved today by the state Commonwealth Financing Authority Board in Harrisburg. Funding through the Marcellus Legacy Fund uses revenue generated through Act 13 of 2012 that imposes an impact fee on the state\u2019s unconventional natural gas wells.<\/p>\n
