Bethlehem, PA \u2013 January 16, 2024: <\/strong>Celtic Cultural Alliance (CCA) announces a genealogy workshop, as part of its continuing mission to promote and preserve the Celtic culture through arts, music, dance and history programs.<\/p>\n

\u2018Researching Your Celtic Ancestors\u2019 will be presented on February 10th<\/sup> by Joe Hunter.<\/p>\n

The search for Celtic ancestors is much more than finding birth, marriage and death records. As in life, the journey to finding your Celtic ancestors is far more interesting than the destination! We will focus on Irish ancestors. However, this presentation will include interesting and compelling ideas, for incorporating unique strategies to locate distant ancestors, in Ireland, and elsewhere, using the Joe\u2019s personal experiences, and an ever-evolving research plan. Begin, with the end in mind. The speaker will discuss the research plan, records, strategy, and unique opportunity that the inclusion of DNA analysis and social networking plays in locating those distant connections. The speaker will also provide suggestions for additional research, and leave you smiling!<\/p>\n

Joe has a certificate in Genealogical Research from Boston University (OL29), a certificate of completion in the ProGen 50 Study Group, and is the Past President on the Board of the Greater Philadelphia Area Chapter of the Association of Professional Genealogists (GPAC-APG). He is also the Presentation Coordinator for The Main Line Genealogy Club (MLGC), Vice President of The Irish Ancestral Research Association (TIARA), and is on the Planning Committee for TIARA\u2019s Celtic Connections Conference. Joe is a volunteer genealogist for the Vineland Historical & Antiquarian Society (VHAS). Joe has been researching his family history for the last 25 years, having traced all (16) of his 2X great grandparents back to Ireland. Joe has utilized his research to obtain dual citizenship with Ireland, and participated in a research trip with New England Historic Genealogy Society (NHGS) to the Public Records Office of Northern Ireland (PRONI) in 2012.<\/p>\n

About the Celtic Cultural Alliance<\/strong><\/p>\n

On Columbus Day weekend in 1988, the first Celtic Classic was presented by a small group of individuals. The goal of this dedicated group was to create an event that symbolized the Celtic spirit and history and to provide the impetus for an organization that focused on promoting the Celtic culture. This group evolved into Celtic Cultural Alliance, a non-profit organization, to better communicate the overall goals of the organization.<\/p>\n

The CCA has expanded with year-round programming to support the mission of promoting and preserving Celtic Culture through arts, music, literature, dance, and history programs. In keeping with the spirit of \u201cNext Generation\u201d, the CCA also offers scholarships to promising young students of the Celtic Arts. These yearly scholarships are offered to students of the arts, including Irish Step Dance, Highland Dance, Fiddle, and Bagpipes.<\/p>\n

The Celtic Classic has blossomed into the largest Celtic festivals in North America. Annually, over 200,000 visitors come to Historic Bethlehem to join in this celebration of all things Celtic.<\/p>\n
