Events include \u201cApril in Paris,\u201d spring historic tours, and the final month of \u201cUnspun: Stories of Silk\u201d exhibition.<\/em><\/p>\n

BETHLEHEM, Pa. (April 4, 2024) <\/strong>\u2013 Historic Bethlehem Museums & Sites (HBMS)<\/a> announced its lineup of activities and events during April 2024, including \u201cApril in Paris<\/a>,\u201d and six historic tours: Old Bethlehem Walking Tour<\/a>; Moravian Stories Tour<\/a>; Family Walking Tour<\/a>; Family<\/a> Museum Tour<\/a>; John Adams Walking Tour<\/a>; and Colonial Industrial Quarter Walking Tour<\/a>. This month is also the last chance to experience HBMS\u2019s \u201cUnspun: Stories of Silk<\/a>\u201d exhibition, which concludes on April 28.<\/p>\n

“As we welcome the blooming beauty of April, HBMS is thrilled to unveil an exciting lineup of events that celebrate our rich industrial heritage and offer engaging experiences for visitors of all ages,\u201d said LoriAnn Wukitsch, HBMS\u2019s president and CEO. \u201cIn addition to exciting new events, April is the last month to immerse yourself in the fascinating world of silk with our ‘Unspun: Stories of Silk’ exhibition, commemorating the Lehigh Valley’s silk industry legacy and its profound impact on fashion and global trade.\u201d<\/p>\n

HBMS partners with March\u00e9 Maison<\/a> for an annual shopping event, \u201cApril in Paris,\u201d which features vintage products hand-selected by Michelle Olson, owner of March\u00e9 Maison, during her travels in Paris. This year\u2019s event is on April 28 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Kemerer Museum of Decorative Arts and will feature cocktails, a live accordionist and a pop-up vintage Chanel fashion exhibit with items on loan from Laura Bennet Shelton.<\/p>\n

April 28 is also the last day of HBMS\u2019s \u201cUnspun: Stories of Silk\u201d exhibition, which details Lehigh Valley\u2019s rise in the silk industry, and the fabric’s impact on fashion and the global marketplace.<\/p>\n

During the month of April, HBMS is hosting six regularly scheduled historic tours: Old Bethlehem Walking Tour; Moravian Stories Tour; and two family-friendly “What About the Kids?” tours – a walking tour and a tour of the Moravian Museum.<\/p>\n

A certified guide leads the Old Bethlehem Walking Tour in period dress and shares the 275-year history of Bethlehem\u2019s unique beginnings since 1741. The Moravian Stories Tour recounts the story behind Bethlehem\u2019s founders, the Moravians. The tour delves into what made the Moravian community unique and how the historic buildings reflect the Moravian\u2019s daily lives.<\/p>\n

The John Adams Walking Tour explores Bethlehem\u2019s role in the American Revolution and what the second president of the United States had to say about the city in 1777. The Colonial Industrial Quarter Walking Tour takes visitors to the country\u2019s first industrial park to discover how the early Moravians established the largest concentration of crafts and trades in the American Colonies.<\/p>\n

HBMS offers family-friendly tours: a Family Walking Tour and a Family Museum Tour. Both feature activities for children two and up, including games and arts and crafts.<\/p>\n
