Bethlehem, PA \u2013 In solidarity with student protests around the country, Lehigh University students host a \u201cSolidarity Week for Palestine.\u201d The week of peaceful activities include<\/p>\n
art-making, film screenings, an interfaith vigil & a Palestinian cultural festival\u2013all of which will culminate in a rally on Lehigh\u2019s campus at 4:30pm on Friday, May 3.<\/p>\n
Student organizations Student Political Action Coalition <\/em>(SPAC) and Lehigh 4 Palestine <\/em>demand that Lehigh University disclose the financial investments from all companies and institutions that profit from Israel’s apartheid and ongoing genocide in Palestine. Similar demands have been made by students at Lafayette College. According to the statement released earlier this week from Lafayette student group Pards 4 Palestine<\/em>, they demand that Lafayette College \u201cdivest from Israel and weapons manufacturers.\u201d<\/p>\n Sarah Stevens, a Political Science major at Lehigh University said, \u201cWe are rallying at Lehigh for a permanent ceasefire in Palestine and to demand that our university disclose its investments and cut ties with military contractors that are dropping bombs on Gaza.\u201d<\/p>\n Lauren Gilmore, a graduate student organizer at Lehigh University said, \u201cWe are sickened by the IDF\u2019s murder of over 35,000 Palestinian civilians, the ongoing famine in Gaza, and our University\u2019s complicity. We are standing in solidarity with Palestine by calling for an immediate ceasefire. We demand that Lehigh and all universities cut ties with military contractors and the Israeli Defense Forces.\u201d<\/p>\n Aisha Memon, a student organizer at Lehigh University said, \u201cWe want to stop Israel\u2019s<\/p>\n U.S.-funded war on Palestine.
