{"id":130079,"date":"2024-05-04T10:42:41","date_gmt":"2024-05-04T14:42:41","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.thevalleyledger.com\/?p=130079"},"modified":"2024-05-04T10:42:41","modified_gmt":"2024-05-04T14:42:41","slug":"top-marks-for-safety-at-st-lukes-hospitals","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.thevalleyledger.com\/?p=130079","title":{"rendered":"Top Marks for Safety at St. Luke\u2019s Hospitals"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Leapfrog Group, a national nonprofit health care ratings organization, today released new Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grades, awarding A\u2019s to St. Luke\u2019s hospitals.<\/p>\n<p>Nine St. Luke\u2019s acute care campuses \u2013 Bethlehem, Allentown, Anderson, Carbon, Easton, Monroe, Sacred Heart and Warren, as well as Geisinger St. Luke\u2019s Hospital \u2013 were among a select group of hospitals across the nation awarded an A for their commitment to keeping patients safe and meeting the highest safety standards in the nation. St. Luke\u2019s Upper Bucks and Miners campuses earned B\u2019s.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis prestigious achievement reflects St. Luke\u2019s unwavering focus on providing exceptional care to each and every patient at all of our locations,\u201d says Donna Sabol, St. Luke\u2019s Senior Vice President and Chief Quality Officer. \u201cThis kind of consistency across all of our campuses reflects the remarkable success St. Luke\u2019s has achieved in integrating our hospitals into a single, unified network with a shared commitment to all-around excellence.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Safety Grade assigns letter grades of A, B, C, D and F twice annually \u2013 in the spring and fall \u2013 to hospitals nationwide based on their performance in preventing medical errors, infections and other harms.<\/p>\n<p>New this year, Leapfrog awarded a \u201cStraight A\u201d designation to hospitals that have earned A\u2019s at least five times in a row. The following seven St. Luke\u2019s hospitals qualified:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>St. Luke&#8217;s Allentown Campus &#8211; 10 A&#8217;s in a row &#8211; Straight A Since 2019<\/li>\n<li>St. Luke&#8217;s Anderson Campus &#8211; 13 A&#8217;s in a row &#8211; Straight A Since 2018<\/li>\n<li>St. Luke&#8217;s Monroe Campus &#8211;\u00a0 11 A&#8217;s in a row &#8211; Straight A Since 2019<\/li>\n<li>St. Luke&#8217;s Sacred Heart Campus &#8211; 8 A&#8217;s in a row &#8211; Straight A Since 2020<\/li>\n<li>St. Luke&#8217;s Bethlehem Campus &#8211; 14 A&#8217;s in a row &#8211; Straight A Since 2017<\/li>\n<li>St. Luke&#8217;s Warren Campus &#8211; 11 A&#8217;s in a row &#8211; Straight A Since 2019<\/li>\n<li>Geisinger St. Luke&#8217;s Hospital &#8211; 5 A&#8217;s in a row &#8211; Straight A Since 2022<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade is the only rating solely focused on a hospital\u2019s ability to protect patients from preventable errors, accidents, injuries and infections. Developed under the guidance of a panel of national experts, it uses 30 measures of publicly available hospital safety data to assign grades to nearly 3,000 U.S. hospitals.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEveryone who works at St. Luke\u2019s should be proud of this \u2018A\u2019 Hospital Safety Grade,\u201d said Leah Binder, president and CEO of Leapfrog. \u201cIt takes complete dedication of at every level, and an ironclad commitment to putting patients first.
