However, the building has remained vacant for the past 41 years.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It is now or never to get something done. The County has long been engaged in efforts to revitalize this historic site. We&#8217;ve seen proposal after proposal, and for the first time, we&#8217;ve never gotten this close to a project that benefits the community like the 1921 at Dixie Avenue project,&#8221; says County Executive Lamont G. McClure. \u201cThis proposed project isn&#8217;t just about salvaging an old factory. It&#8217;s about embracing sustainability while honoring the building&#8217;s architectural legacy. Waiting another 41 years is not an option if we wish to preserve the building&#8217;s structure.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The power to advance this project is now in the hands of Northampton County Council.<\/p>\n<p>A team of contractors has been lined up.
