Hines, who is the author of <em>Cracked, Not Broken: Surviving and Thriving After a Suicide Attempt<\/em>, will share his story of unlikely survival, of recovery both physical and mental, and of hope.\u00a0 Titled \u201cLiving Mentally Well,\u201d his presentation takes place Tuesday, April 12, at 7 p.m. at Salisbury High School, 500 E. Montgomery St., Allentown.<strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Hines is a globally acclaimed speaker who has shared his inspirational story to audiences of all backgrounds. That story includes his bipolar disorder diagnosis as a teen-ager, his suicide attempt in 2000 when he was just 19, and his miraculous recovery that inspired him to share his message of hope and will to live. Not only has Hines become an acclaimed author and staunch advocate for suicide prevention and mental health, but he also has become a filmmaker, as he is currently working on a feature-length documentary film called <em>Suicide: The Ripple Effect<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cLiving Mentally Well\u201d is co-sponsored by AFSP Greater Lehigh Valley and NAMI-Lehigh Valley. Tickets cost $10 and can be reserved online at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nami-lv.org\/\">www.nami-lv.org<\/a>. Students are free with a school ID and are asked to reserve their tickets. After the presentation, which includes a Q&amp; A session, Hines will be available to sign copies of <em>Cracked, Not Broken<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>The American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP) is a nonprofit organization exclusively dedicated to preventing suicide.
