Due to a heat advisory in effect for the area, the City of Allentown shares the following resources available to residents on Monday, July 8 and Tuesday, July 9. We will continue monitoring the weather for the rest of the week.<\/p>\n

Pools<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n

Monday 7\/8 and Tuesday 7\/9: City pools will be open from 12-7pm to\u00a0residents and season pass holders only<\/strong>\u00a0as capacity allows,\u00a0at no cost<\/u>. Address\u00a0verification required.<\/strong>\u00a0<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n

Cedar Beach Pool<\/em>\u00a0101 N Ott St<\/strong><\/p>\n

Irving Pool<\/em>\u00a0731 N Irving St<\/p>\n

Mack Pool<\/em>\u00a01901 Mack Blvd<\/p>\n

Public Air-Conditioned Buildings<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n

Monday 7\/8 and Tuesday 7\/9: Anyone, especially older adults, in need of air conditioning can visit these locations during the specified times.\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n

Allentown Public Library<\/em>\u00a01210 Hamilton St 8am-8pm<\/p>\n

Cumberland Gardens Community Room<\/em>\u00a0501 E Cumberland St 3:30-7pm\u00a0(subject to change)<\/em><\/p>\n

Executive Education Charter School<\/em>\u00a0555 Union Blvd (please use the Union Blvd entrance) 8am-1pm<\/p>\n

Lehigh Valley Active Life<\/em>\u00a01633 Elm St 8:30am-4:30pm (please enter through the doors facing the parking lot)<\/em><\/p>\n

PPL Center Lobby<\/em>\u00a0701 Hamilton St (enter through the Main WFMZ Gate sliding doors) 10am-5pm<\/p>\n

Spray Parks<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n

City spray parks are open 11am-8pm daily. There is no cost to use the spray parks.\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n

*A reminder that City ordinance prohibits people from swimming or bathing in creeks or waterways within City parks, which presents both maintenance and safety concerns.<\/em><\/p>\n

Water Curtains<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n

Monday 7\/8 and Tuesday 7\/9: Cooling stations operated by the Allentown Fire Department will be available from 11-3pm.<\/p>\n

Union Terrace<\/em>\u00a0Soccer Fields across from UT Elementary<\/p>\n

Extreme heat can be dangerous for everyone, especially young children and older adults. Heat-related illnesses can cause significant injury and possibly death. Stay hydrated, stay indoors with air-conditioning if possible, and check on relatives and neighbors to ensure they are staying cool. Also, take extra care of pets during this heatwave. If someone is overcome by heat, move them to a cool, shaded spot. For heat strokes, heat-related, and other emergencies, please call 9-1-1.<\/p>\n
