Heat Advisory for Allentown: Resources and Safety Tips<\/strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

Due to a heat advisory in effect for the area, the City of Allentown urges residents to stay indoors this week in a cool location, if possible. We\u2019d also like to share the following resources available to residents:<\/p>\n

Pools<\/strong><\/p>\n

On Tuesday 7\/16 and Wednesday 7\/17, City pools will be open from 12-7pm to\u00a0residents and season pass holders only<\/strong>\u00a0as capacity allows,\u00a0at no cost. Address verification required.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

Cedar Beach Pool<\/em>\u00a0<\/strong>101 N Ott St<\/p>\n

Irving Pool<\/em>\u00a0731 N Irving St<\/p>\n

Mack Pool<\/em>\u00a01901 Mack Blvd<\/p>\n

Public Air-Conditioned Buildings<\/strong><\/p>\n

Anyone, especially older adults, in need of air conditioning can visit these locations during the specified times.\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n

Allentown Public Library<\/em>\u00a01210 Hamilton St from 8am-8pm Monday-Friday<\/p>\n

Cumberland Gardens Community Room<\/em>\u00a0501 E Cumberland St from 3:30-7pm Tuesday & Wednesday\u00a0(subject to change)<\/em><\/p>\n

Executive Education Charter School<\/em>\u00a0555 Union Blvd from 8am-1pm Tuesday & Wednesday (please<\/em>\u00a0use Union Blvd entrance<\/em>)<\/p>\n

Lehigh Valley Active Life<\/em>\u00a01633 Elm St from 8:30am-4:30pm Monday-Friday (please use doors facing parking lot)<\/em><\/p>\n

Spray Parks<\/strong><\/p>\n

City spray parks are open 11am-8pm daily. There is no cost to use the spray parks.\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n

Bucky Boyle Park<\/em>\u00a010 Pump Pl<\/p>\n

Old Fairgrounds<\/em>\u00a05th<\/sup>\u00a0St between Gordon & Liberty St<\/p>\n

Valania Park<\/em>\u00a0531 Union St<\/p>\n

*A reminder that City ordinance prohibits people from swimming or bathing in creeks or waterways within City parks, which presents both maintenance and safety concerns.<\/em><\/p>\n

Water Curtains<\/strong><\/p>\n

On Tuesday 7\/16 and Wednesday 7\/17, the following cooling stations, operated by the Allentown Fire Department, will be available from 11-3pm.<\/p>\n

Roosevelt Park<\/em>\u00a0271 Camp St<\/p>\n

Jordan Park<\/em>\u00a01001 N 6th<\/sup>\u00a0St<\/p>\n

Union Terrace<\/em>\u00a0Soccer Fields across from UT Elementary<\/p>\n

Extreme heat can be dangerous for everyone, especially young children and older adults. Heat-related illnesses can cause significant injury and possibly death. Stay hydrated, stay indoors with air-conditioning if possible, and check on relatives and neighbors to ensure they are staying cool. Also, take extra care of pets during this heatwave. If someone is overcome by heat, move them to a cool, shaded spot. For heat strokes, heat-related, and other emergencies, please call 9-1-1.<\/p>\n
