The Perseids are caused by Earth passing through ice and rock debris left behind by Comet Swift &#8211; Tuttle.\u00a0 Register at\u00a0<a href=\"mailto:ksemmens@nurturenature.org\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">ksemmens@nurturenature.org<\/a>\u00a0to get updates. If it&#8217;s cloudy August 12, the event may be moved to August 13.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><b>Keeping an Eye on Hurricanes<\/b><\/div>\n<div><b>Saturday, September 7, 1 &#8211; 2 pm<\/b><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>Hurricane season is in full swing, having officially started June 1st\u00a0and ending November 30th. Find out what influences hurricanes, how frequently and where they occur and their effects. Revisit significant hurricanes of the last few years and learn how to be prepared for the next one.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><b>Observe the Moon<\/b><\/div>\n<div><b>Saturday, September 14, 1-2 pm<\/b><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>As Earth&#8217;s only natural satellite, the Moon inspires and illuminates us. International Observe the Moon Night is a time to come together to learn about lunar science and exploration, observe the Moon in the night sky, and honor cultural and personal connections to the Moon. Learn how you can observe the Moon&#8217;s phases and explore how other cultures have named and interpreted the Moon&#8217;s phases.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>The Insidious Plastics exhibit continues.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>All programs are free, but donations are accepted.\u00a0 Except for the Perseids Party, all programs will be held at Nurture Nature Center, 518 Northampton St., Easton. Parking may be available in the parking lot behind the building on Pine St. ( Staff spaces are OK to use).
