{"id":133307,"date":"2024-07-31T21:36:19","date_gmt":"2024-08-01T01:36:19","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.thevalleyledger.com\/?p=133307"},"modified":"2024-07-31T21:36:19","modified_gmt":"2024-08-01T01:36:19","slug":"only-network-in-region-ranked-as-best-by-u-s-government","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.thevalleyledger.com\/?p=133307","title":{"rendered":"Only Network in Region Ranked as BEST by U.S. Government"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>St. Luke\u2019s hospitals have received the highest possible quality rating \u2013 five stars \u2013 from the annual quality and safety hospital review conducted by the U.S. Centers for Medicare &amp; Medicaid (CMS).<\/p>\n<p>St. Luke\u2019s was the only health network in the Lehigh Valley to receive the best ratings, which were published by the federal government today.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSt. Luke\u2019s is proud to consistently earn the highest rankings for superior quality and outcomes on multiple national lists based on objective data sources,\u201d SLUHN Vice President &amp; Chief Quality Officer Donna Sabol said. \u201cThis is a credit to our 20,000 employees and their unwavering commitment to all-around excellence.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The CMS ratings are based on an examination of the quality of care at Medicare-certified hospitals across the country. The quality measures include safety and value of care, readmission, infection, complication rates, mortality, patient experience, effectiveness and timeliness of care and efficient use of medical imaging.<\/p>\n<p>Nationwide, on elite 8 percent of 4,558 eligible hospitals earned five stars.<\/p>\n<p>Of 11 eligible St. Luke\u2019s acute care hospitals, 10 received five stars:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>St. Luke\u2019s University Hospital (Bethlehem, Allentown and Sacred Heart campuses)<\/li>\n<li>St. Luke\u2019s Anderson Campus<\/li>\n<li>St. Luke\u2019s Easton Campus<\/li>\n<li>St. Luke\u2019s Miners Campus<\/li>\n<li>St. Luke\u2019s Monroe Campus<\/li>\n<li>St. Luke\u2019s Upper Bucks Campus<\/li>\n<li>St. Luke\u2019s Warren Campus<\/li>\n<li>Geisinger St. Luke\u2019s Hospital<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Remarkably, of Pennsylvania\u2019s 189 eligible hospitals, nearly half of the 21 that earned five stars were St. Luke\u2019s hospitals.<\/p>\n<p>St. Luke\u2019s Carbon Campus, eligible to be rated for the first time since it opened in 2021, received the four stars. St. Luke\u2019s Orthopedic Hospital at its West End Campus was not rated by CMS because it is too new.<\/p>\n<p>A CMS tool \u2014 called\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.medicare.gov\/care-compare\/?redirect=true&amp;providerType=Hospital\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=https:\/\/www.medicare.gov\/care-compare\/?redirect%3Dtrue%26providerType%3DHospital&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1722557471777000&amp;usg=AOvVaw1NrMOoxcqNXC8x5WeHuxm5\">Hospital Compare<\/a>\u00a0\u2014 is a consumer-oriented website that provides information on how well hospitals provide recommended care to their patients. The star ratings and other information provided by the tool can help consumers make informed decisions about where to go for health care.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>About St. Luke\u2019s<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Founded in 1872,\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.slhn.org\/\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=http:\/\/www.slhn.org\/&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1722557471777000&amp;usg=AOvVaw1778r04A9-a3UE9TZJ8Koi\"><strong>St. Luke\u2019s University Health Network<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0(SLUHN) is a fully integrated, regional, non-profit network of more than 20,000 employees providing services at 15 campuses and 350+ outpatient sites.\u00a0 With annual net revenue of $3.4 billion, the Network\u2019s service area includes 11 counties in two states: Lehigh, Northampton, Berks, Bucks, Carbon, Montgomery, Monroe, Schuylkill and Luzerne counties in Pennsylvania and Warren and Hunterdon counties in New Jersey.
